December 29, 20159 yr Author And I've finished the Exam, in which I did rather well as I guessed the answer pretty early on. Still enjoyable though and held my attention rather well considering it was entirely staged in one room. Edited December 29, 20159 yr by dandy*
December 29, 20159 yr Glad you enjoyed both of them Dandy, Ex_Machina is definitely one of my favourite of the year and all the performances are excellent and Exam was also really intriguing:heart: Would also recommend Spy like PopChartFreak said, didn't go in with high expectations but it is easily the funniest movie of the year  Fantastic film!
December 29, 20159 yr Author Thanks UV... I'll look up Spy - don't tend to watch that many comedies as so many of them are just painfully bad but I'll give that one a try if you and PCF liked it. Give 'Kingsman' a shot too! I will be doing! You'll also be pleased to know that I have Big Hero 6 to watch but I'm not allowed to watch either of those without Mr D* - he'd kill me! I'm sure you'll keep us updated on whether you liked them or not, so I look forward to seeing your opinions on them (hope I haven't overrated them for you haha!)
January 3, 20169 yr Author ^^ Do you know I misread that the other day and thought it was an uncharacteristically bitchy comment aimed at Ultraviolence!!! :D Anyway... we also watched Kingsman and Big Hero 6 this week. Kingsman I thought was a decent film with some excellent highs but unfortunately some needlessly cheap bits that made it fall ever so slightly from grace for me (see the final scene for example, why on earth end with that?!!!) - but on the whole it was a very enjoyable and different take on your typical action movie. I adored Big Hero 6!!! How on earth did this film not get more praise at the time? (or maybe it did but it just passed me by?) - it was a perfect mix of humour, action and poignancy and I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of it - I'm even tempted to go as far as saying it's the most enjoyable film I've seen all year. :o

Forever on top of their game and rarely ever put a foot wrong  there are around 4 out of 53 of the Disney Animated Classics that I don't really enjoy!
December 30, 20168 yr Author Would it be too cheeky to ask again this year? Mr D* and I are off work until the 9th so I'm looking for some ideas for good films to watch - as per last year, anything but horror really!
December 30, 20168 yr 'Room' is my 2nd fave film of the year (seems to be a Buzzjack fave too!) So I definitely recommend that. Nice bit of drama for you to contrast with Kingsman and Big Hero 6! Haha. Also, 10 Cloverfield Lane is worth watching. I don't think you needed to have seen 'Cloverfield'!
December 30, 20168 yr I know it's very easy to just suggest my favourite movie of the year, but I'd put forward 'Sing Street'. Music, 80s setting..if you're a fan of Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, A-ha, The Cure, any of that sort then it would definitely be worth giving a try! 'Departure' is another obscure choice that I really enjoyed in the first half of the year, French setting, coming of age tale, gay interest Or 'A Bigger Splash', another one that went pretty under the radar. Tilda Swinton. Need I say more?
December 30, 20168 yr Not sure if you have seen Zootropolis or Kubo & The Two Strings! If so I'd definitely recommend one of those two! (I was about to start recommending a bunch of horror films but then realised I read it wrong )
December 30, 20168 yr Author Oh thank you all - that was such a quick response!!! I have Finding Dory arriving today (which I cannot believe it has taken me so long to watch! :o ) and also the Star Trek and Bourne films. I love the sound of 'Room' and actually 'Sing Street' too - not something I'd normally go for but I do adore most of the acts you've mentioned so it's swung it for me. Will investigate the others afterwards (Zootropolis is the only one I've already seen but I did love that one  )
December 30, 20168 yr Captain America, Deadpool, The Nice Guys, Deadpool, The Martian, Deadpool, X Men, Deadpool. Deadpool's also worth a look...
December 30, 20168 yr http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0195626/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092824/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3158246/
December 30, 20168 yr Author lol - I'll be ignoring all suggestions from now on and just binging on Space Dandy.
December 30, 20168 yr Author (oh and by the way, I have seen Deadpool and it was okay - it was enjoyable enough but I didn't love it as much as everyone else seems to have done, perhaps I went in with expectations set too high?)

Music, 80s setting..if you're a fan of Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, A-ha, The Cure, any of that sort then it would definitely be worth giving a try! Sing Street was the last movie I watched (I really should watch more!!1), I found it enjoyable, it's quite a sweet story but has some edge! Let us know if you choose to watch it dandy*, and if you liked it!
December 30, 20168 yr (oh and by the way, I have seen Deadpool and it was okay - it was enjoyable enough but I didn't love it as much as everyone else seems to have done, perhaps I went in with expectations set too high?)Agreed with you on this one! I enjoyed it, but didn't love it due to my expectations! Also, yay for 'Finding Dory'! I also second a 'The Nice Guys' nod. But it's OK, due to having quite a few recommendations already haha.
December 30, 20168 yr Star Wars Tarantino films Harry Potter Trainspotting A Clockwork Orange Aladdin Home Alone 21 Jump Street Hot Fuzz Anchorman Toy Story Animal Farm (the 1950's version)
December 30, 20168 yr (oh and by the way, I have seen Deadpool and it was okay - it was enjoyable enough but I didn't love it as much as everyone else seems to have done, perhaps I went in with expectations set too high?) I went in with low-budget whimsy expectations and was pleasantly surprised, so you may be right about expectations. Repeat viewings have convinced me it's a superhero classic to come back to repeatedly over the decades. Of course I am biased when it comes to sci-fi/super-heroes...
