February 27, 20169 yr Everyone attacking Little Mix for "miming" the chorus are just pressed people. They PUT a show, they DANCED like hell-lot. Plus they sang all of their verses perfectly! (Not everyone can do that). Asking them to do Chorus perfectly while jumping and rolling on the floor is too much to ask. Funny thing is that they didn't completely mime as you could obviously hear Leigh-Anne & Jesy over the backing track. Little Mix stole the show. Deal with it.
February 27, 20169 yr I'm in the Little Mix performance wasn't that great. The harsher tribal intro was good but made me realise the actual production on the song itself is far too safe and could have gone harder. The miming was evident and it is their choice to do a big dance routine, they could have concentrated on the vocals instead.
February 27, 20169 yr It was indeed their choice to do a big dance routine but without that, the performance would've been more lacklustre and less of an event. I doubt the general public really cared that much but it confuses me how miming is seen as such a bad thing by some. They have nothing to prove vocally...
February 29, 20169 yr The miming was evident and it is their choice to do a big dance routine, they could have concentrated on the vocals instead. I don't understand what this is supposed to say. Yes they could have decided to concentrate on vocals but they clearly believed that focusing on choreography would make for a more entertaining performance and I don't see the fault there. What exactly would the advantage of making the performance duller but giving live vocals have been? Giving redundant evidence that they're strong vocalists? I swear some people care more about a performance looking credible than actually being good. If I were a fan of Little Mix I'd be a lot more concerned with them giving me performances to appreciate than performances I can show to my snobby friends and say "See, they CAN sing!". You're too old for the whole musical inferiority complex thing.
February 29, 20169 yr Coldplay - not sure what people have against this, I thought it was a fun way to start the show. a decent performance too. - 7/10 Probably the fact he was completely out of tune for everything other than shouting the chorus. :P

You're too old for the whole musical inferiority complex thing. It isn't 'oh look we can sing' it is doing your job. At the end of the day they are singers and people want to hear them sing live, this is why Adele sells zillions of copies, as do Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran, people want to know that the music they hear on the radio is not just a trick and that the artist can truly deliver. How do you know a fully live concentrated on vocals performance would have been dull? Had they nailed the vocals it might have been truly amazing.
February 29, 20169 yr They mimed the chorus. Everything else was 100% live and honestly, flawless. You cannot compare them with the likes of Ed/Adele/Sam. Completely different markets. Go on youtube and find a performance by Beyoncé or Rihanna (who do crazy choreo) where they do that choreography and sing completely live (and nail it!) at the same time. You'll see that they too use a backing track. I don't understand why everyone's shitting on LM for it when the biggest stars in the world do the same and get praised for it? :/
February 29, 20169 yr The main mistake Little Mix made was using the studio version of Black Magic for their chorus instead of recording a "live" sounding vocal for it, that artists often do (See, Cheryl Cole). Other than that, it was great.
February 29, 20169 yr So they proved they could sing in the verses and dance in the chorus. I might just not be familiar enough with him as a poster but isn't the real reason Sammy whoever hates Little Mix because they're off of X Factor?

I'm shocked you're even comparing Little Mix to those artists, they really aren't comparable at all, totally different types of artist. If Little Mix mimed Secret Love Song, I'd be more concerned, but it's an uptempo with a dance routine they wanted to include because they wanted to deliver an incredible performance, it really isn't a big deal and I find it quite baffling that anyone would react this way.
February 29, 20169 yr Exactly, even the likes of Beyonce or Lady Gaga would probably struggle doing a full on dance routine as well as a live chorus. When they do do it, that's probably when they have not such a good day and give a bad performance. I'd rather that the girls mimed a chorus and nailed the choreography then slayed the verses live than sang it all live so the chorus ends up ropey thanks to compromising vocals for choreography. So they proved they could sing in the verses and dance in the chorus. I might just not be familiar enough with him as a poster but isn't the real reason Sammy whoever hates Little Mix because they're off of X Factor? I think it is
February 29, 20169 yr I actually like Little Mix as Jay can attribute to, but it just didn't work for me at such an awards show with everyone else doing live vocals. The whole thing was too much about the dancing and not enough about the actual song or vocals. The mix didn't work for me as the more tribal beat made the rest of the normal production feel flat, the verse vocals were ropey and the chorus was mimed. It could have been a lot better I feel. For me it veered dangerously into Cheryl territory which is a shame as they are soooooo much better than that.
February 29, 20169 yr It was nowhere near Cheryl territory tho? Miming at the Brits isn't exactly a new thing. Remember 2009? When Take That mimed Greatest Day despite only standing on a spaceship?
February 29, 20169 yr It was heavily influenced by whether I liked the song or not so that's why I gave them a 4. :P
