To top off what has been a brilliant era so far, the girls have been CONFIRMED to be performing at the awards ceremony on 26th February. It's also worth noting that some times (well more times than not) the BRITs, tend to award their performers. But we shall see.

 

This is absolutely fantastic news for the girls whether they perform one of the first two singles or their new one. SO PROUD FOR THEM. Now just to wait for noms tonight. Best Single and Best Video are pretty much locks for nominations, but group doesn't look as likely, but we'll see.

Please be Secret Love Song! I can only assume they will, their performance my actually be to do with the impact date of SLS.

Yesssss! Can't shake the feeling they'll do Black Magic though but even if they do, I'm so happy they've been confirmed! I had my doubts they'd be on, yesss!!

Omg SLS really could be a Someone Like You moment, PLEASE. So happy they're going to be performing anyway, I hope it isn't Black Magic but that is a solid 20/10 anyway and it's just great to see them have such a huge performance lined up.

Snubbed for best group which is just really unfair.

The nominations in general are an absolute shambles, fingers crossed they've got a chance at best single. Idk if 1D's fans are still as rabid as before but let's hope the Mixers can get them best video if not best single :P

It's not all about sales but what frustrates me is I think in general the public perception of them is better, they're "cooler" and the critical reception (for Black Magic in particular) has been good too. I think all of that should be taken into account, they're delivering on all fronts :( At least their sales/views have got them automatic nominations :D

Coldplay - They managed to, very frontloadedly sell more albums so far. But Little Mix sold more singles and their album did better critically

One Direction - Sold more singles and albums than 1D

Blur - They sold more singles and albums than Blur, but I think Blur's album was extremely well received critically

Years & Years - They had a great year, but Little Mix's album still sold significantly more in a much shorter period of time.

Foals - Little Mix sold 4x what they sold in albums and Foals didn't really have any high charting singles.

 

Obviously some of these still deserved nominations but Little Mix, it seems were overlooked for unknown reasons.

I really want them to do SLS but show their tight harmonies and only sing it to a piano backing track. I think it would really change the Brit's views towards girlbands

Yeah, I would have been shocked had Years & Years and Blur not been nominated, but as much as I love 1D, Little Mix deserve a place on that list more than they do this time around for sure. Tbh I think people are right, it's probably largely because they're a girl band, and that's not "cool" enough to be nominated. Just praying they win best single.

 

They surely must perform SLS in order to promote it. But a stripped back version could be one of the biggest moments of their career so far

Hmm. I'm thinking a 'Black Magic' performance is all but confirmed now. I'm incredibly over the moon that they have been asked to perform and are up for TWO Brit awards, but I really wouldn't be bothered if we got another 'Black Magic' performance (as much as they will obviously SLAY). I really want them to show the public that they are MORE than just a girl band who have great, catchy pop songs.

 

Absolutely ecstatic for the girls though. They are clearly over the moon about it all and it's so sweet seeing their reactions <3

I'm about 99% certain they'll do Black Magic now they don't have a Best Group nomination. Both their awards are 100% thanks to that song, whereas "Best Group" would have acknowledged their album, other singles and work as a whole.

 

The Brits will probably choose what they sing, and they'll probably want Little Mix there for bringing something big. Adele will sing a ballad, James Bay will probably sing a ballad and Justin Bieber will probbaly do Love Yourself (a ballad). So I can't see them wanting the same from Little Mix who are known for their epic performance skills.

 

I hope they can bring something special that we've not seen before.

If they must do 'Black Magic' then I'm hoping for a mash-up at least. 'Black Magic' is a good pop song but the following two singles are soooo much better, I do wish artists in general didn't have to waste a perfectly good promo opportunity by performing a hit that has been and gone months ago.
