That Stooshe song is actually decent. I think they're brilliant. Their album slayed. WHERE IS THE JUSTICE?!

I actually really enjoy the Stooshe song too but it seems they're never going to happen

Get Ugly doing quite well! :o if only it was Try Me or Cheyenne in its place.

If anyone's wondering why Big Bad Wolf is climbing I heard it on an advert (I think it was Money Supermarket)

Also :music:

Stay needs to go up a lil bit more, although I imagine it's not going to be too big a hit. Broken Flowers needs to be MASSIVE though

Oh and that Nathan Sykes is just ok. The quality of the song doesn't really warrant a higher peak than it already has so I hope it won't climb too much higher tbh.

:o

His performance on Graham Norton was amazing, so glad to see this up high  stunning song. Album is also #4 on the album chart.

He's also uber hot, but that's irrelevant.

I really hope Stitches is #1 this week, so fed up of Love Yourself and Justin in general dominating the top spots regardless of how much I enjoy both songs, it gets really stale no matter who or what it is.

I hope Elle King's performance on GN next week can push her into the top 40. In other news, it's so sad to see Zara Larsson falling already :(

So the prediction of T10 this week for Zara Larsson, was it:

a) Misguided

b) Massively out

c) Terrible

d) All of the above

Currently: #81.

:D!

It was clear Zara wasn't heading for anywhere near the top 10 this week, it has no airplay yet.

Taking into consideration that she was #23 on spotify before release and already charting two weeks in the top 100 prior to release, I wouldn't say that it was a unrealistic aim. I'm guessing she will peak at around #40-55 this week but it will pick up with weeks to come and should easily become a top 5 long running smash! :D

I am not doubting it has the potential to be a massive hit in time, but you do need to have quite a large fanbase (One Direction, Adele etc.) to generate an instant T10 hit without any major support.

The best held-back release strategy over the last few months was surely 'In2'? That was the way to get an unknown song straight into the top 10 with some solid airplay.

Couldn't this Zara Larsson one have copied that?

It's not intending to be a held back strategy though I don't think. Record labels are mostly trying to shift to OA/OS and it seems they wanted this song to wait until Never Forget You had smashed. Lush Life is basically being treated as OA/OS and will impact radio fairly soon I imagine. In2's impact date would've been the release date, which is the traditional held back strategy which is almost abandoned.

Lee, I admire your optimism, but Lush Life wasn't coming anywhere near the top 10 this week and I hate to say it but I told you so :coffee: x

No, I would rather say it was one of the last ones that benefitted of this strategy, but it couldn't even go top 3 anymore. Sigala - Sweet Lovin' maybe the last real held-back release that benefitted of this strategy more (went top 3)

And the last ones that went number 1 with the held-back strategy were Sigala - Easy Love and KDA - Turn The Music Louder.

Also I think the held-back release strategy is dying out now, doesn't work anymore like 2-3 years ago (or even at the start of last year).

It's holding up well though, unlikely top 40?

Where's the evidence that it doesn't work? They're just not doing it anymore, for whatever reason.

Look at the sales, they are not on such a high niveau as it was for example in 2014.

A song like In2, that went almost top 40 (or even top 40) on pre-orders, alone in 2014 was a sure fire number 1. In2 debuted at #4. The sales of Easy Love and Turn The Music Louder were also off (although they were number 1s) to those sales held-back releases reached that went number 1. (Plus Easy Love and KDA had streaming as well, so without streaming sales even more lower)

Of course they were not flops, but they didn't benefit so much of pre-orders than the singles benefitted in 2014. That's quite clear.

And I think that's one of the reasons labels switch more and more to OA/OS.
