What was the last Now to feature 20 or more songs that didn't go top ten? :o

It's not entirely the compiler's fault though - Adele, Drake and Rihanna wouldn't have been available. Presumably History and Forever Young were at their disposal but they opted not to go with them for whatever reason. And not sure about Stormzy. 30 odd top ten hits in a four month period seems tragically low but I suppose it will only get slower.

No Viola Beach is a shame, although I imagine there would have been licencing issues given that they were on a minor label. Nice to see Bowie there, what was the last "oldie" song to make it onto a Now compilation? I remember "In The Air Tonite" made it when it was used in the Cadbury advert, but there must have been others since then.

Fleetwood's Mac 'Everywhere' was on Now 84 due to it featuring on a 3Mobile advert.

It seems no one has questioned the absence of "679". It got top 20 and spent more time in the top 40 than the majority of songs on the album
I expect Shut Up's absence is due to the fact Stormzy's on an independent label. Likewise for Viola Beach.

If "Shut Up" never appeared on other compilations, I'd understand the songs absence but the fact is that it has appeared on other compilations

Have Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ever appeared on a Now? I can't recall it but I'm not an expert :heehee: but they're on an independent label so Now seem to have a bit of trouble. I don't think it's anything else when it comes to Shut Up, it's been a substantial enough hit to warrant inclusion if it were on a major label.
Just realised this is Brandy's first appearance on a NOW *.*
Shocked to see 'Stevie Knows' on the tracklist! Then again, it did get a lot more airplay on TV & radio at the start of this year regardless of its chart shortcomings, so it sort of makes sense.

Two reasons Louisa Johnson's absence is a no-no despite people saying it "flopped":

1. Not reaching #1 is not a flop

2. It did better in the charts than most songs on here

I've also noticed that every appearance that The Weeknd has had so far is right after Justin Bieber

Louisa's song had literally no lasting effect though. Who still listens to it? Who knows how it goes? Who know who she is?

NOWs should have the ability to take you back to that moment in time. The non charters from Olly and Jack do that much better than Louisa's song.

I would agree here but they also included the choir track which is even more forgettable despite being a #1.

But it was no.1 which they probably feel obliged to include.

No effect is subjective though. Jack Garratt may not have charted top 40 but lots of people will have heard the track over the past few weeks.

Who heard Louisa's single outside of release week?

Don't forget Jack Garratt is the Critic's Choice award winner so is lined up to do big things this year, so it's kind of a given they would support him.

'Forever Young' definitely did flop. All the others have gone to #1 with tremendous ease and this got nowhere near despite similar exposure.

Even Tiësto has done better than LJ and he didn't even make the top 40
