Congrats, Bal and Liam! I love what you've been doing with the 'Erotica' throwbacks and Holy Trinities - I'm really not familiar enough with her albums to justify my love commenting on the threads but it's clear that you are both ~experts in the field and it's enjoyable to read ^_^ Keep it up!
That's really sweet Theo, thank you very much for your kind words!

THEO  use this as a means/way of getting into all of her material? It's so worth it!!

Haha I guess, but then I'll ask you where to start and then I'll have like 10 albums to listen to 😏

*13 - all amazing and totally different albums~

Start from the debut and work your way through them! Or if you're impatient get really stuck into Confessions on a Dancefloor, Ray of Light and True Blue and if you like them go back and discover the others. DO IT. 🙂

I'd say go with the three that Bal recommended to you as they're definitely the most popular Madonna albums and see what you think. Most of her output in that last decade or so hasn't been all that great sadly... My personal top three is True Blue, American Life & Bedtime Stories though.

I was like you where I was a bit overwhelmed on where to start but I ended up listening to all the albums one by one and became a huge fan because of it. Her older stuff is 100% worth checking out for any pop music fan

EDIT: Also, great job at the moment Liam & Bal. I've been loving all the threads here recently !! *.*

I am actually familiar with 'Confessions' due to "Hung Up" mainly but my parents do actually own that and every other pre-'MDNA' album on either CD or 12" I think! Obvs I won't be getting the record player out but I'll stream these three soon x

I can remember you getting into Madonna actually! It was True Blue that properly connected with you wasn't it? Exciting times :D it definitely is overwhelming at first but also it's 13 unique albums many of which helped to pave the way for albums we listen to today so definitely worth it. And thanks <3

Yeah, it was about two years ago where I properly first listened to all of her albums and started stanning pretty hard. I think I documented most of it to you as if my life had been changed forever after discovering her older albums   True Blue remains my favourite Madonna song and album so you remember correctly !!

I agree that True Blue, Ray of Light and Confessions would be a great place to start or even just have a listen to Madonna playlist on Spotify. There's something for all pop lovers with Madonna so I think you'll be able to find some personal gems!

Like a Prayer, Erotica and Ray of Light are arguably her most artistic and creative albums.

True Blue, Music and Confessions are a perhaps a little more pop/ dance but very polished.

Her most three recent albums are easily her weakest but MDNA is the best effort.

We start the New Year in the Top 3 with 48 posts! :cheer: I count that we made 1693 posts in 2017; quite a bit down on the 3402 posts in 2016 but still impressive when you consider there was no new music or tour to discuss.

Just like to thank everyone who contributes to the Artist Forum; you guys make this place one of my favourite places to post in and make it a privilege to mod for.

We received our highest post count for 2018 last week with 60 posts (very fitting for Madonna's 60th). Hopefully activity can continue to pick up.

This forum was the 8th most popular AF of 2018 with 1,222 posts made. Very pleased with the continued, consistent activity in this forum despite no new music, so thank you to all that contributed last year! Excited for what's to come this year!
