I can't believe I didn't vote in this!

Some of the results are a bit suspect (Circus, Break The Ice, Work Bitch all so HIGH?) but that is a perfect Top 10 and a strong Top 5.

At #5 we have the wonderfully sleazy 'Gimme More', released in September 2007 as the lead single from her 5th album 'Blackout'. Opening with that iconic line It's Britney Bitch.., causes a certain stir and excitement as she announces her long awaited return to the music scene and what better way to make a comeback than this thrilling piece of pop. I remember at the time I thought this sounded like Justin Timberlake's 'SexyBack', which came out the same year, maybe it's just my opinion. But that doesn't make this any less brilliant, and considering the really difficult period in her life, it came as a surprise to many that she would actually release anything that year, but yes she did and while those troubles do effect the mood and tone of the song and album, which definitely does in that darker direction, it made the whole project brilliant, and seen by many as the best album she's ever done. This also shows Britney moving forward creatively, with it's futuristic styled dark production, and combined with Britney's seductive and breathy vocals, it just all makes for a brilliant record. The only promotion this received was that critically panned MTV Music Video Awards performance, where she failed to lip sync along the backing track and just looked dazed and confused, but even so even Britney can make a bad performance look entertaining. Then we have the music video which wasn't well received either, but I find the lack of professionalism in it, really suits the nature of the song and gives it that seedy underground look and feel. Upon release the song became a success by reaching #3 in the USA, becoming her highest charting single in 9 years, as well as matching that peak in the UK, becoming her 17th top 10 hit. Elsewhere it hit #1 in Canada, while hitting top 5 peaks in Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Australia, Norway, Belgium, Switzerland & France, then finally top 10/20 peaks mostly everywhere else.

Oh. I really thought that'd be slightly higher! Phenom song and an all time fave for sure.
I love Gimmie More, it's higher than I personally would have put it, but it's an undeniably strong comeback and iconic moment for Brit.
Not a massive fan of that, but I kind of get the hype for it. It does have an essense of overrated imo
Great top 5! I'd like to see Toxic, Stronger or Everytime win but I think BOMT willl snatch it

At #4 we have my personal favourite Britney song 'Stronger', and I would just like to say WOW, never expected this to do so well here, sure I knew it was well liked and expected a lower top 10 placing, but at the #4 position with such a high average, that was totally unexpected and a really nice surprise. Released in November 2000 as the 3rd single from her 2nd album 'Oops I Did It Again'. I always remember first listening to album and upon hearing this song, I said to myself yes this has to be a single and actually wanted it as the follow up to the title track, while that didn't happen, it did finally get a release in the end, which I was glad of. Many have called this a sequel of some sorts to 'BOMT', with it's My loneliness ain't killing me no more line and it does have the same empowerment theme, but these songs couldn't be any more different. This just hits all the right notes and has become so iconic through the years it's unbelievable, with that brilliant bridge breakdown and the build up back into the chorus was just fantastic and we get our first glimpse of dark Britney which is also fantastic and totally unexpected at this early stage in her career. Let's also talk about that music video, which was just also amazing and probably even more iconic than the song itself with Britney set in a futuristic styled world and that of course chair sequence which cleverly references Janet Jackson's 'Pleasure Principle', is just astounding and gives the whole thing that sophisticated edge. Upon release it became another hit for Britney at the time (who was unstoppable). In the USA it managed to outpeak the previous single by reaching #11, while in the UK it became her 7th top 10 hit by reaching #7. Elsewhere it managed top 10 peaks in Austria, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Ireland, Swiss, Finland & Romania, along with top 20 peaks everywhere else.

Baby One More Time VS Toxic VS Everytime, whose gonna come out on top...
Stronger still sounds amazing. I don't see how anyone could ever dislike it. First Britney single I ever bought!
Glad those two didn't beat the top 3, both are too high for me (Gimme More is so overrated especially :(). Stronger is fab but I prefer many of the other singles from the first few eras.
Not a favourite at all for me
HUSH.

JUST STOP.

'Stronger' is incredible and it's always been such a huge jam! It always feels like it's slipped under the radar somewhat, but always seems to do well in Britney-related contests and stuff! Fondly remembered (and rightly so) by her fanbase I think  Plus the video is one of her very best <3

Easily in my top 5 Britney tracks <3

Stronger is sensational.

Coming in at #3 is Britney's ultimate signature hit 'Baby One More Time', I bet this came as a surprise to many of you, I did have an inkling that this may not win, but thought that it would at least be runner up, and for a short while it was, up until it got overtaken towards the end. Even during the early stages of the voting this did come out on top, but that didn't last, as the other 2 proved to be much stronger. Well what can I say about this that already hasn't been said, it's just a staple in the pop culture that basically came out of nowhere from an artist who was unknown at the time and has kickstarted an era of the pop princess (which had died out long before), but made teen pop fun again. Every success that Britney has had through the years is thanks to this song. Released in October 1998 and taken as the lead single from her debut album of the same name, it became an instant pop classic and I remember when this was first aired and everybody went nuts about it, and it made pop music cool again and made Britney an instant star overnight. Funnily enough originally this song was offered to both The Backstreet Boys and TLC before Britney snapped it up, and could you imagine if either one of those artists did decide to do this song then we wouldn't have known who Britney is and the landscape of pop music at the time would have been totally different. Not long after this a slew of other teen girls tried to get their piece of the action such as Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson & Mandy Moore, who each did manage success, and only Christina managed to have somewhat the same level of success, but never quite getting on Britney's level and while the other 2 have long since faded from the music scene. Upon release I don't think I need to tell this but it topped the charts everywhere and has become one of the biggest selling singles of all time with 10 Million copies sold worldwide.
