Well, at least ONE of those I can accept being above Hung Up (and one more I don't really rate as highly, but is iconic and undeniable and was always going to win). The other is vastly overrated.

'Hung Up' is a masterclass in pop music.

The Top 3... personally I wouldn't have Ray of Light quite this high, but the other two my two 11s remaining, so obviously I'm thrilled that they're this high up. Please be the Top 2. *.*

#3 revealed shortly after hour long Eastenders, what's everyone's predictions/wishes for the Top 3?

Out of the songs that are left, I'd want a 'Ray of Light' win, followed by 'Like a Prayer' and 'Frozen'. All 10/10 moments for me though.

Bar the all 10/10 moments, that would be my preferred order too.

I hope 'Like a Prayer' in third place (another one of Madonna I don't particularly take to), with either 'Ray of Light' or 'Frozen' winning. I think I'd prefer 'Frozen'.

You hold the key

Slipping from runners-up to third, but remaining arguably number one for Madonna's biggest and most celebrated reinventions, is Frozen. Madonna's popularity had been reinstated following the success of Evita and the hype for a music comeback was sky high, but I don't think anyone could have anticipated what was to come. The classical strings instantly rope you in with their mix of sorrow and darkness that both fascinates and unnerves you, whilst Orbit's carefully allocated electronic bleeps and whirs trigger chills down your spine and arms. Then there's Madonna's voice which is just incomparable to anything we've heard in her work prior. It starts delicately high and controlled before smoothly lowering, adding to this eerie, unknowing atmosphere that we're just not sure what to make of yet but that we know is sparking a clutter of emotions. The whole song is just a masterpiece, maintaining this energy whilst mother earth Madonna teaches to open up, forget your problems and heal yourself, and the partnership of her and Orbit is sheer perfection. Their genius minds merge classic balladry with cutting-edge electronic wizardry to create a sophisticated yet fresh sound; a result that left no doubt in people's minds that Madonna was an artist who had an ear for innovation: she can take the sounds of the underground and portray them in a way you wouldn't have ever considered but all the while remembering to keep it accessible, creating a consummate synergy of pop and art.

Oh wow, very surprised by that! Pleased though, third is way too high still and I find the song to be a little bland/dull compared with much of the rest of the album but I was definitely expecting second for it.

Wanted that to win out of what was left :( HAS to be 'Like A Prayer' now!!

I am SHOCKED at some of the responses to this - how does such a haunting, beautiful song attract this hate :/ I won't understand it.

And John.. "bland/dull"

Utterly sublime.

This is the song that first introduced me to Madonna. I'm kind of surprised that a song like this appealed to me at the age of 10, but I loved it. 18 years on and it still sounds remarkably fresh to me. One of her very best, and highly worthy of Top 3.

The production isn't as interesting or layered as something like Skin or Ray Of Light and the hook is far more muted than the other songs of a similar tempo on the album (bar maybe the trio at the end). I don't usually connect with a song lyrically, which I understand makes me an oddity, but without that Frozen comes off as a very good album track, but one which is vastly overrated.

Frozen is fantastic. I was introduced to Madonnw much earlier, but it's one of the releases I remember well from my childhood. Very, very compelling. I do go back to Ray of Light more these days though, so am pleased that's higher.
