You make my spirit whole

Next out in a very close-knit race is Little Star, one of the more subdued and peaceful tracks on the album. A song about her daughter Lourdes and is beautifully produced and sung to reflect this. From the glistening ethereal opening, through to the refrain of "never forget who you are" it's a kind, warm-hearted message to her daughter but is more universally a song of self-belief and empowerment. A lovely little song, but can be forgotten on the album and not the most "complex" or daring numbers.

Deadline: Thursday evening~

Aw, 'Little Star' is so sweet. But not one of the best so I can live with it.

'Candy Perfume Girl' again ~

First the song about her dead mother

Now the song about her daughter !!!

I am finding these rate very frustrating .

Shanti

Yeah, 'Shanti/Ashtangi' for me too. It seems too obvious to go for the non-English track but it is one of the weaker songs.

Despite this being so ballady/down-tempo, it actually sounds stunning in the sunshine (as I've discovered today!). Even the most darkest sounding, haunting 'Frozen'. Largely down to the gorgeous, chilled-out Orbit production of course. Also, I'm not exaggerating when I say my Top 8 from this album are all 9s and 10s.

The people voting Frozen this early on are confused messes.
BOO @ Shanti/Ashtangi running away this time :( I love it SO much, it's so enrapturing. this is almost as bad as the treatment of Isaac
I listened to the album again to prepare me to vote in this over the next few weeks and I can definitely say that Candy Perfume Girl is the weakest track left, it really spoiled the opening half of the album.
'Candy Perfume Girl' is my next victim. It does edge on being boring compared to the surrounding tracks but the whole "did I lie to you?" bit saves it for me.

'Candy Perfume Girl' is wonderful, I hope it doesn't go *just* yet. She vaguely channels Shirley Manson on it.

(Actually, I'll probably be okay with it if it outlasts 'To Have And Not To Hold'.

I've never noticed that before but it's true she does sound like Shirley Mason!

I'm quite aware that 'To Have and Not to Hold' will be gone soon enough but it's probably the album's most underrated for me. Just adore that intro.
