Oh just some stats, for the World Cup the sport forum got around 900 replies in total I'd say, and we've already amasses over 400 replies for this tournament in total with all threads into consideration. Brilliant, we'll smash 1000 replies.

Ukraine really coming in to this game now.. the Germans have lost their control of the midfield.

Really enjoying the Germany vs. Ukraine match, Ukraine had a few opportunities towards the end of the first half.

Great goal at the end of the match, I did find the second half a bit dull though, as if Ukraine just wanted to give up, probably ran of steam in the end. Germany look like the winners, I think they can go all the way.

 

Love to see a Belgium vs Germany final.

I was joking with the person that I was watching the game with that Bastian Schweinsteiger was coming on to stretch his legs for the last few minutes :lol:, as a United fan I was happy to see him get on the score sheet.

 

Germany deserved to win the match and were in control of the game for the majority of the game although their first goal shouldn't have counted as that wasn't a free kick. Germany will be there or there abouts as they always are, I can see them getting to semi final at least but I still reckon France will win the tournament.

Spain are SO DULL to watch, seemingly trying to pass it into the net against a defence of about 8 people. It was painful at times, I just wanted them to actually shoot rather than trying to walk it in.

Ah ha. Typical Spain, didn't even bother watching because a scoreline and playstyle like that was bound to happen. Boring team.

What a dull game from Spain, if England couldn't find the net, Spain couldn't until the last 3 minutes. They were horrendous, I really can't see the holders winning it.

 

Anyhow 10 points for me, that will do nicely.

 

I'm actually looking forward to the Belgium vs. Italy game tonight.

I haven't seen the Spain match yet, will watch the highlights tonight but i'm not surprised that it ended 1-0. Spain are not as attacking as they were in 2008.

Spain are so boring I forgot to predict it.

 

Watched it in Science this afternoon (our teacher chose that do doing osmosis and diffusion which I'd say is an inspired decision), OH MY GOD one of the worst games since Nigeria vs Iran. yawn.

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Sweden

1-0 to Ireland. (I can't watch any of these because I'm at work, but I have livescore.com up at my desk.)

Right after Ireland took the lead, Sweden cranked up the pressure big-time and has finally broken through. Zara Larsson scored and it's 1-1.

Never expected that result, especially when Ireland scored, on the plus side, my prediction was 2-0 to Sweden, so no points there on the predictor

Great match, its a shame Belgium couldn't find the net, they had so many chances especially right at the flipping end. Never expected Italy to win that game, I was very impressed with Italy, overall a great match. Belgium at the bottom eek, they should beat Rep. Ireland no problem, hopefully they can beat Spain as well. Spain's performance was dire tonight.

Belgium are very overrated, team of individuals for sure.

Belgium just got destroyed by Italy. They played the game as if they were better than Les Azzuri (is that it?) however got smashed :lol: It was so poor from them, a fully deserved Italy win.

There hasn't been many goals scored yet in these opening games but I'm sure it will pick up soon!

 

Watching highlights of these matches sucks, it feels as if there was only one match that took place today (Belgium vs Italy). At least when you watch Match Of The Day for Premier League highlights it still feels almost like watching it live but watching the highlights now on ITV just feels like it's rushed and devoid of drama. At least when they get to the knockout stage the matches will take place at more convenient times for most people.

 

Saturday 25th June & Sunday 26th June in particular look like days of heavy football :D

Spain and Belgium definitely don't look or played like champions today. You can never write off Italy although we'll see what happens there. ITV highlights look rushed we've nearly twice the amount of time on analysis than the actual highlights.
