May 14, 20169 yr Maybe not but saying we got nothing is a blantant lie and an attempt to stir the shit. It's what the Guardian blogger said. 8 is also a disgrace. There's no point in competing anymore.
May 14, 20169 yr 'The United Kingdom did not get a single point in the popular vote. This new voting scheme is BRUTAL.' It's exactly the SAME voting system presented in a different way as well as that not being true as Adam's pointed out. Nothing's changed, only us sending a song that was very few people's favourite has changed. It really didn't stand out next to everything else in the slightest. San Marino beating Iceland in the semi will go down as a very weird Eurovision semi moment. Pleased Macedonia came as close as 11th, that may help their case for staying.
May 14, 20169 yr Don't get how Ukraine did it, they were mediocre at Best But I've got to say I did have a strange feeling all night that they would win. Australia really should have won though ! Also Armenia should have been a lot higher. UK also did decent considering the song was below average 60+ points is way more than I was expecting for them ! Just wish Aus had took the crown !!
May 14, 20169 yr Iceland came 14th in the semi?? :o I'm completely shocked at that Add insult to injury, San Marino beat them :(
May 14, 20169 yr Ukraine was my second least favourite song in the final (better than Georgia - wtf jury) but I feel OK about them winning. Very happy that it wasn't Russia and it was so exciting and it's so 'unexpected' that it works for me. And I won back all the money I spent betting thanks to Bulgaria coming 4th, slay Poli
May 14, 20169 yr 'The United Kingdom did not get a single point in the popular vote. This new voting scheme is BRUTAL.' Time to withdraw. You said the same last year, change the f***ing record. Sorry Eurovision Song Contest/ BJSC mods.
May 14, 20169 yr You said the same last year, change the f***ing record. Sorry BJSC mods. Mikey do you mean Eurovision mods
May 14, 20169 yr Winner was poop, To be fair, I thought the Aus entry was also poop. The UK do the same old every year, we have an outcry that we should pull out, but I doubt we ever will. I can't ever see us doing well again though, no matter who we send.
May 14, 20169 yr Guys, don't know if anyone will know the answer to this but I betted on Ukraine to win and I checked it on coral as 7/2 a few hours before, didnt think anything of it until ukraine won and I looked on the slip and the odds were 66/1. Surely they wouldn't of changed that much but is the odds on the slips 100% correct? Edited May 14, 20169 yr by XhannahlongX
May 14, 20169 yr Dami not winning is a travesty. I was seething, probably a good thing I didn't have WiFi or this thread would have been spammed with angry caps locks exclamation mark rants
May 14, 20169 yr I've been saying it for months but the problem really was that it was so much of a safe and bland song that, especially on the televote, few people at all had it in their top few of their priorities to vote for. To do well at Eurovision you need to either take a risk and go for something that is really out there and memorable (like Ukraine and I guess Bulgaria too) or pick whatever genre you're doing and do it/perform it faultlessly (basically all of the rest of the top 5, even Poland in an 80s pastiche way but performed within an inch of its life) and we just didn't do that. You can't just send something in and expect it to do well just because it's the UK and it's not terrible. All the predictable 'it's all political' bull just reeks of entitled colonialist xenophobia, so if you are planning to or have already tried to do that, kindly make your way HERE xox
May 14, 20169 yr It would be interesting to see how we would do if we did send a huge star. Not that she ever would but I'm sure someone like Adele wouldn't lose any credibility etc if she went.. But would she win? How would the UK fare if we sent 'Sound of Silence' with say.. Alexandra Burke singing it?
May 14, 20169 yr This isn't quite 2011 in that I'm not angry that Ukraine won, it is a good song, but that we were so close to a far better song winning. So it's more pure and utter heartbreak. Now if the Ukranian song had been more like Running Scared then I'd be at volunteering for the Russian army right now levels of anger.
May 14, 20169 yr Oh my god. These results are amazing. I'd have preferred Australia winning over Ukraine but I'll take Ukraine with open arms! I was literally the only one at my party happy that Jamala won! They even didn't want Australia to win because it's not in Europe. Especially my boyfriend was the loudest about it <_< I am going to look at the full results tomorrow morning but WTH at Poland being 3rd in the televise. I'm DYING. What the ACTUAL f***.
May 15, 20169 yr It would be interesting to see how we would do if we did send a huge star. Not that she ever would but I'm sure someone like Adele wouldn't lose any credibility etc if she went.. But would she win? How would the UK fare if we sent 'Sound of Silence' with say.. Alexandra Burke singing it? I'm not sure people would actively decide not to vote for the UK  If we sent Adele and she had a great song, she'd do very well because she's the biggest star in the world. People won't be like "I love that Adele song but I'm not voting for the UK". I think Lex is right in that You're Not Alone, as much as I like it, is generally not a big fave type of song. Televoters will likely only vote for their top 3 faves maybe, so they lost out there. It's a shame but it's nothing to do with us being the UK.
