HELLO~ We spend a lot of time debating and discussing Madonna's music, but now we will turn to the visual artwork that goes along with this music. Welcome to Buzzjack's Madonna album artwork rate 2016 :magic:

 

The rules are simple, rate like you would with anything else, but here focus solely on the artwork that goes along with each album not the album themselves. Do you think the artwork reflects the album well? Does Madonna need to cover up, is she looking good, are the colours effective? Included are her 13 studio albums and her several compilation albums. Live tour albums have not been included.

God, I've never really put much thought into it, but a lot of her artwork really isn't great. Some of her studio albums really deserve better for how iconic they are. The Like A Prayer artwork is crap. Bedtime Stories I've always been confused by because I feel like it doesn't go with the album at all and it doesn't look like her on the cover. Erotica is good in theory and I like the idea but could have been executed much better.

 

Confessions, MDNA and Ray of Light are thankfully better, I don't need to talk about Hard Candy. True Blue is great and I really like Madonna because it's quite the statement and kind of faithfully hints to the kind of artist Madonna became. I found the Rebel Heart covers too 'clean', the best was the edgier super deluxe one for me.

Bedtime Stories is definitely love though, not liking the dislike! It's quite mysterious, dainty and dreamlike much like the album itself!

06 | Madonna - (I'm rating the original black and white version, not the awful UK re-release coloured one with black background. But anyway this one isn't bad, she does look really good and it does capture her beauty really well, however it is very simple and not a lot to it)

08 | Like A Virgin - (This is a really good one, that captures the title really well with it's mixed themes that showed that already she was more confident especially with that iconic wedding dress that really makes the whole thing a lot more stronger than her first album)

11 | True Blue - (Yes this is well and truly her most iconic, with an image that will stick in your head forever, it has that classic sophisticated look that showed that Madonna was becoming more and more mature and stronger as an artist).

05 | Like A Prayer - (Considering that this is such an amazing album and probably the best of her career, the cover doesn't really say much about the album itself, yes it's an interesting idea to just shoot her stomach, but that's basically it.

09 | Erotica - (Very stylish with it's use and white and blue that sums up the sexual tone of the album perfectly)

03 | Bedtime Stories (Not very interesting at all, the upside down image just confuses me and the heavy make up makes her look older and just doesn't pull off the classy look she was obviously going for)

08 | Ray of Light - (Very serious and definitely looks like it's appealing to an older audience and definitely captures the tone of the album quite effectively)

08 | Music - (Really like the colours used in this one, along with the cowboy hat and text that kinda gives it that futuristic country feel)

10 | American Life - (Now this one's really cool that's really bold and brash and loved the simple use of just black and white, with that hint of red that makes it look really severe)

09 | Confessions on a Dancefloor - (Another great one, where her pink outfit really stands out, along with the disco styled text and the title in white and small at the bottom that really makes it look sophisticated)

02| Hard Candy - (I liked the background, that's about it, the rest just looks really desperate to me)

03 | MDNA - (Just like the album itself, just not very good and kinda boring)

06| Rebel Heart -(I'm rating the deluxe version as it's clearly the more interesting and quite bold, the standard edition simply sucks and doesn't make her look good at all).

04 | Who's That Girl - (Not really much to say about this one, it's pretty standard with just a white background that doesn't say anything about the album itself)

07| I'm Breathless - (This captures that showgirl persona and classic 1920's or 30's era really well, and that kind of style has always suited her, as she always felt like someone from that time period)

07 | Evita - (Very stylish and elegant and it's dark background does capture the mood and seriousness of the album)

06 | You Can Dance - (Another okay one, where I do really like the bold red of the background and Madonna standing there in that Spanish outfit, shows that this is a fun album that you just dance to and have a good time)

07 | The Immaculate Collection- (Now I've always found this rather interesting, as I liked the colours, the bold writing and the design around it, which kinda gives it that mysterious tone to it)

05 | Something to Remember - (It does have the sombre mood that captures the essence of the album, but don't find it very interesting and basically looks like it could have been done by anyone, just doesn't grab your attention)

04 | GHV2 - (Pretty uninteresting, just didn't appeal to me)

10 | Celebration - (This one's just amazing, what more can I say, the painted artistic colours and the simple picture of just her head with tiny writing throughout it, was just perfection, on the whole it just looks really cool).
