'In For The Kill' is legitimately, one of my least favourite songs of all time. Horrific.

7.52 51 Calvin Harris - Feel So Close

7.49 52 Blink 182 - All The Small Things

7.47 53 Kings Of Leon – Use Somebody

7.46 54 Fergie – Big Girls Don’t Cry (Personal)

7.46 55 Samantha Mumba - Gotta Tell You

7.43 56 Rihanna – Russian Roulette

7.42 57 Kate Nash – Foundations

7.40 58 Calvin Harris feat. Kelis – Bounce

7.38 59 Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys – Empire State Of Mind

7.35 60 Emeli Sandé – Next To Me

Emeli Sandé released 'Next To Me' just as she was starting to become a huge name, though this was even before she started appearing on every TV show going including a small event called the London Olympics Opening (and closing) Ceremony. Despite the overexposure I always liked 'Next To Me', quite an uplifting song. She has an even better one yet to come.

Jay-Z and his song about New York got him his biggest hit to date and still one of his best remembered alongside '99 Problems' and 'In Paris'. It does well for a rap song here finishing at #59.

Calvin Harris finds himself here twice with 'Bounce' and its follow-up 'Feel So Close' which both unfortunately missed #1 in a time where it seemed every Calvin song was destined to peak at #2. It seems that time has come again as his 2 most recent singles have peaked at... #2.

Kate Nash is probably most famous here for missing #1 by a very small amount with the song 'Foundations', but people seem to actually like the song too. I never really heard it much but it didn't seem all that great.

Rihanna made her comeback in 2009 with 'Russian Roulette', a song people didn't expect from her but nonetheless it did well anyway as you'd expect a Rihanna lead to. Not one of my faves from her but an interesting song nonetheless.

Samantha Mumba appears in the middle of this section. Fergie follows with 'Big Girls Don't Cry', being a ballad after two ~urban~swag~ songs but despite that it became her biggest hit. I prefer 'Glamorous' myself.

Kings Of Leon refused to leave the charts and the radio with 'Sex On Fire' and 'Use Somebody' for what felt like years. The latter of those only made #2 but sold a million anyway and does well in this rundown. Blink 182 finish a place behind Calvin's 'Feel So Close' which tops the section.

Good section there, Next To Me, Bounce, Foundations, Russian Roulette, Big Girls Don't Cry, Use Somebody and Feel So Close are all good.
It's a shame Russian Roulette and Big Girls Don't Cry are out now. Both great songs! I especially love RR.

7.66 41 Girls Aloud - The Show

7.60 42 P!nk feat Nate Ruess – Just Give Me A Reason

7.60 43 Sweet Female Attitude - Flowers

7.57 44 S Club 7 - Reach

7.56 45 Rihanna – Unfaithful

7.56 46 Kylie Minogue - I Believe In You

7.54 47 Calvin Harris + Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love

7.54 48 Dannii Minogue - I Begin To Wonder

7.53 49 Oasis - Stop Crying Your Heart Out

7.52 50 Gwen Stefani feat. Akon – The Sweet Escape

Gwen Stefani starts off the top 50 with 'The Sweet Escape', a song which I found quite annoying at the time as it was literally everywhere. Also she had done better songs previously.

Oasis get their highest entry in this with 'Stop Crying...', unsurprising considering it's the only #2 of theirs in the 00s anyone actually remembers. It gets into the top 50 though which is better than I expected.

Dannii Minogue with her 00s jam 'I Begin To Wonder' appears but sister Kylie outdoes her with 3 different songs. One of them 'I Believe In You' appears two places above putting Calvin Harris in a Minogue sandwich with his brilliant 'How Deep Is Your Love'.

Rihanna's great ballad 'Unfaithful' which helped put her on the pop music map further is at #45. She has 2 more entries to come.

For some reason people here generally love 'Just Give Me A Reason' and 'Reach', which both appear just outside the top 50. I find both horrendously overrated.

Sweet Female Attitude with their only hit and early 00s garage classic 'Flowers' appears at #43 and Girls Aloud just miss the top 40 with 'The Show' (but still have 2 songs to come).

Good to see The Minogue sisters in the top 50. :cheer:

VERY impressive for Flowers to finish to high

Other than HDIYL, Unfaithful & Reach the rest of that lot are passable. Little By Little is far superior to SCYHO for me!

Stop Crying Your Heart Out  Unfaithful and Reach!

Pretty good section overall.

I still think it's bizarre that 'Reach' wasn't a number 1!

I always assumed it was a #1, I used to hear it all over the place when I was younger! Though I loved "It Feels So Good" at the time too so that's a great alternative

Ooops at missing this, I guess I will wait until the complete results are posted before commenting :)

I also (unfortunately) heard Reach a LOT when I was very young. Didn't hear of 'It Feels So Good' until some point within the last few years though, it's definitely the better song for me though. :P

I begin to wonder is so much better than I believe in you !!!

Loving the thread

Not so much the biased commentary

Feeling so nostalgic

40-31

7.76 31 Kylie Minogue - On A Night Like This

7.75 32 Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc

7.75 33 Taylor Swift – Shake It Off

7.75 34 Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble

7.73 35 Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne – Real Love

7.71 36 Mariah Carey - We Belong Together

7.71 37 Eminem feat. Rihanna – Love The Way You Lie

7.70 38 Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body

7.67 39 Outkast - Ms Jackson

7.67 40 Nicki Minaj – Starships

Let's get on with the top 40 before everyone forgets about this. Nicki Minaj starts the section with the brilliant 'Starships', one of the major OA/OS success stories pre-Global Release Day. The song recently passed a million sales also.

Outkast's highest-peaker is oddly not ultimate 00s classic 'Hey Ya' but the still well-known 'Ms Jackson' (though it's not half as brilliant). It beats Nicki Minaj on tiebreak (more 11s).

Justin Timberlake appears with 'Rock Your Body' which he performed on Eurovision alongside most recent single 'Can't Stop The Feeling' (also a #2). It remains one of his best songs ever - though he still has another to appear in this rundown.

Rihanna is well-known for featuring on many other people's songs. One of the most famous of these is her collab with Eminem whose lyrics relate to her experience with domestic abuse and unsurprisingly sold well. Eminem is particularly great in this too though recently it seems he can't make songs as good anymore.

Mariah Carey spent about 200 weeks at #1 in America with 'We Belong Together'. Thankfully in the UK that didn't happen and it didn't even get one. It's actually one of her best probably (saying this not being familiar with a lot of her material) but not something I choose to listen to.

Jess Glynne, Queen of Music teamed up with Clean Bandit a second time and got rewarded with another big hit in 'Real Love'. Whilst only being half as good as 'Rather Be' it was something I enjoyed and it was great seeing them make a sequel to such a huge hit. Currently Clean Bandit are enjoying another big hit with Louisa Johnson whilst the world awaits for the Queen's return...

Taylor Swift appears twice in a row, and funny enough the two songs get exactly the same average though 'Shake It Off' outdoes 'I Knew You Were Trouble.' as it got one more 11 than it. These two are probably her strongest songs (well those and 'Style', which unjustly missed the top 20) so it was good to see the public taking to these more than her other hits.

Gorillaz appear at #32 with proper classic 'Feel Good Inc'. I'm surprised this isn't higher actually, how does anyone hate this? Probably one of my faves of its decade. Kylie Minogue is one place ahead. She has one more song left in the rundown but how will it do?

~~

Here's the top 30 in alphabetical order. #31-300 can be found in the OP. Predictions?

Adele – Rolling In The Deep

Bastille – Pompeii

Britney Spears – Piece Of Me

Daft Punk - One More Time

Destiny's Child - Bootylicious

Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath

Dido - White Flag

Disclosure feat. AlunaGeorge – White Noise

Emeli Sandé – Heaven

Girls Aloud - Love Machine

Girls Aloud - No Good Advice

Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River

Katy Perry – Teenage Dream

Kelis - Milkshake

Kelis - Trick Me

Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight

Major Lazer feat. MØ & DJ Snake - Lean On

Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse – Valerie

Michael Jackson – Man In The Mirror

Mis-Teeq - Scandalous

Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams My LA Ex

Rihanna - S.O.S.

Sam Sparro – Black & Gold

Shakira - Whenever Wherever

Sia feat. Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder On The Dancefloor

Take That – Rule The World

The Killers – When You Were Young

Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag

Years & Years - Shine

Not hugely fussed on most of that top 30, One More Time is the obvious standout & extremely glad it's made top 30 :D

Next faves would be Cry Me A River, Lean On, Scandalous & Whenever, Wherever & good to see Man In The Mirror appreciation too.

7.90 21 Take That – Rule The World

7.88 22 The Killers – When You Were Young

7.86 23 Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag

7.85 24 Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight

7.83 25 Katy Perry – Teenage Dream

7.82 26 Bastille – Pompeii

7.79 27 Girls Aloud - Love Machine

7.78 28 Emeli Sandé – Heaven

7.78 29 Destiny's Child - Bootylicious

7.77 30 Rihanna - S.O.S.

We get on with the rundown with more appearances from familiar faces. Rihanna got her second UK #2 hit with 'Tainted Love', which was the song that showed us she was here to stay and not be just a one-hit wonder (and then of course, 'Umbrella' released a year later would push her into megastar status what with its 200 weeks [approx.] at #1). It's a great fun pop song and sums up the early RiRi well.

Destiny's Child brought booty back fifteen years before Meghan Trainor and what a song to do it with too. The song would get beat to #1 officially by another big girlband at the time Atomic Kitten but this has certainly aged better.

Emeli Sandé had a wonderful debut with 'Heaven' which became her first UK #2 and started off a very successful album campaign. It's still my favourite of hers so I'm glad to see it well ahead of 'Next To Me'.

Girls Aloud had an unlucky run of #2s in the beginning which ended with their fourth 'Love Machine' (well until they finally got another #2 eight years later). It's a good thing this one stalled at #2 though, as it was beat to #1 by Eric Prydz 'Call On Me' which is a thousand times better. Not to shade the Girls though, this is a good pop song.

Bastille brought out a brilliant single in 'Pompeii' which may have not gone to #1 but is certainly one of the biggest songs of the decade and most remembered too (it's spent 100 weeks in the official chart, no exaggeration). Bastille are now back with 'Good Grief' and as expected, it's not as good as this. Nothing they'll do ever will be.

Katy Perry at a time when any song by her would become a massive hit brought out a fairly average pop song. It of course became a huge hit and Buzzjack loved it too, and still do clearly as it starts the top 25.

Kylie Minogue appears here again with another fairly good song. It's the final appearance from her. Personally I think 'On A Night Like This' (#31 in this rundown) should've been higher but they get nearly equal ratings so I can't really complain.

Wheatus. :puke: No, just no.

The Killers make up for that at #22 with 'When You Were Young', their highest peaking single actually but nowhere near their best selling. It's still great though.

Take That finish the section with 'Rule the World'. It's a bit overplayed/overrated but I can't say it's a bad song.
