In joint 13th place we have Britney's 3rd most iconic hit 'Oops! I Did it Again' and the middle finger to the press 'Piece of Me', which was the second single from Blackout. Oops! is my favourite Britney lead single and even though it's one of her most remembered hits, I feel as though among fans, it's not as popular as it should be. It's a masterclass in pop, that bonkers Titanic break, the key change, the huge chorus. :heart: Then we have Piece of Me, which I always see as the angrier, edgier sequel to Lucky, thematically. 'Piece of Me' performed wonderfully in the UK, 'Gimme More' was a decent sized hit but Gimme More sold even more, slowly climbing to an even higher peak. I always wondered what was more popular, 'Gimme More' or 'Piece of Me' as I always categorize them together, so here's the answer cemented even more.

Glad to see 'Overprotected' in the top 15. Definitely up there with her best for me!

Also glad to see 'Piece of Me' out. Her most overrated single for me, I just don't get the love whatsoever. I like the idea of it but just don't like the song itself haha. Possibly my least favourite on 'Blackout' tbh :')

'Overprotected' is phenom <3 So, so, SO good :wub: Always loved it and it's always stood out for me! Really pleased it managed top 15 as it always seems under appreciated amongst fans in general and it tends to suffer from "it's very good, but she has better" treatment. :lol:

 

Controversial opinion, but I think 'Oops...' is in about the right position. It's obviously iconic, but for some reason, I've never "loved" it. Thankfully, she had 'Stronger' straight after *.* and 'Piece Of Me' is incredible. I used to run a Britney Fan Myspace page (lolololol) and I remember being excited in getting 'Blackout' before some of my American friends on there (it was one day before!) and remember saying 'Piece Of Me' is the one to listen out for and is the highlight. Great times. <3

I'd also agree 'Oops is about I'm the right place. Like, Jon said. It's obviously iconic and an effective bop, but I don't find myself playing it near as much as her other well known singles.

 

Regardless, it's iconic for reasons I don't even have to state. But, it doesn't have a patch on 'Lucky' :wub:

 

I think people may find this shocking, but I find POM overrated as well. Don't get me wrong, it was a great release, but, I prefer more than half of 'Blackout' to it.

Here we have 'Lucky', where Britney plays the title character, a famous actress who's star power has put her in a state of depression. It may sound like a fairy-tale, with sweet lyrics and a simple structure, but 'Lucky' is a powerful song with a lot of meaning, and is even sadder when you think of it as an early premonition for the mental hardships Britney came to face later in her career. 'Lucky' is actually my favourite Britney ballad (Well, it's mid-tempo I guess) yes I prefer it to 'Everytime'!, even though it's a sad song, 'Lucky' is also a bit of banger melodically, with a hugely infectious chorus and verses.

Just catching up now. 'Circus' should be higher here! I've always found it to be really thrilling and it stands out in her discography wonderfully.

 

'Oops... I Did It Again' is definitely up there with my favourite Britney music videos. :heart:

12 is my lucky number so I'll settle for that. Should be higher though :(

Just to show you how much I caaaaaaaaaaaaaare

 

The UK single runs from '...Baby' to 'Stronger' is utterly flawless. No shade to 'Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know', I still really enjoy that song, but '...Baby One More Time', then 'Sometimes', '(You Drive Me) Crazy', 'Born to Make You Happy', 'Oops! I Did it Again', 'Lucky' to 'Stronger' is just pop perfection after pop perfection. . One of the things I really like about 'Born to Make You Happy', is that there is a hint of desperation and longing under Britney's vocals, that you don't hear as much in Britney's up tempo numbers, due to the way they're produced and I really feel it adds an extra dimension to my enjoyment of the track.

'Lucky' is a beautifully tragic song. The production is amazing and it really is eerily scary just how much a lot of her life turned into this story.

 

Obviously, I'm routing for an 'Everytime' win, but on the whole it's a fantastic top 10! Nothing I'd say that isn't worthy of being there (even if I'd personally prefer a couple of others over them) SO pleased about 'Break The Ice' performance in this. I hope it doesn't go TOO much higher, but I'm happy it's reached top 10!

It's not just because it's produced well, it's genuinely just one of her best songs...

Also, the production is a pretty key part of any song (especially one of Britney's, we're not exactly here for her amazing vocals are we?) so I feel like it's fair enough to vote for it because of that!
