From a UK point of view id probably say something like this:

2) Toxic

10) Sometimes

 

Even though Born was a number 1 it feels long forgotten compared to other songs from that era.

Same thing for '3' and 'Hold It Against Me', here in the States. Massive #1 hits that have been slightly forgotten.

 

Even though the video for HIAM is an 11/10 masterpiece, minus the POF ad.

After a long absence, Britney burst back onto the scene with 'Gimme More', attracting lots of negative attention, since she wasn't in the best place personally, but the song, the song was huge. It wasn't quite as big in the UK as it was in the USA, it was the followup, 'Piece of Me' that sold more. 'Gimme More' is still a very unique, weird and wonderful song to listen to.

A predictable but undeniable top 3. Controversial maybe but can 'Toxic' PLEASE be out first though to give the other two a shot to fight it out?

Oh my LORD what a song Gimme More is though. I remember hearing this for the first time and instantly falling in love with it. The fact she came out with her absolute best (maybe second best to Slave) when she was going through so much.. :heart: The Danja production still sounds so fresh today and it's a regular on the many playlists I make. Really wish they'd collaborate again!

I remember listening to this when it first leaked and I DIED. DIED.

 

THAT INTRO. THAT INTRO WAS LITERALLY MY & EVERY OTHER STANS WET DREAM ON STEROIDS. Her vocals are just OOZING confidence and rebellion and it just fit that period of her life like a glove. Like, and the fact we were watching her slowly going down the drain, she releases a song called "Gimme More"?

 

It and Piece of Me are American classics just because those songs were cemented into your brain after watching her life slowly fall apart.

 

It's nice to appreciate that hot ass mess era for what it was, now that she's happy and in a great place in life.

Controversial view here, but Slave is one of her worst and wouldn't even be in my top 25/30.
'Gimme More' is awesome and is still awesome to this day, it was the best lead single for the 'Blackout' era by a mile and it did do quite well in the UK by reaching #3, but the sales of them years weren't so high and honestly this was and is miles better than 'POM' and honestly find that 'GM' has aged much better than that ever could.

'I'm A Slave 4 U' is ridiculously ahead of it's time. Such a sensual and gritty pop song! At the time of release it took a while for it to grow on me, but that was just due to how drastic a change it was and took a lot for me to get used to it. The video absolutely SLAYED though and then I remember reading articles about her VMA performance! Incredible song. <3

 

'Gimme More' is flawless. Such an instant hit! It really hit me from the get go and I've always considered it to be one of her absolute best songs. That bassline and just the general production is insanely intense, gripping and pulsing. Plus, the intro. THE f***ING INTRO. "It's Britney Bitch" has become an iconic catchphrase that even the non stans or even fans use a lot!

 

I'm going to predict:

 

01. 'Toxic'

02. 'Baby...'

03. 'Everytime'

 

but my personal rank would be to reverse that completely haha.

The song that started it all. That intro. That video. Those vocals. That Chorus. Everything about this song is iconic to every single person in the world with any kind of pulse on pop culture. Having sold over 10 million copies world wide, '...Baby One More Time', is one of the highest selling songs of all time. And it's so easy to see why, at a time when pop was overly cheesy and gimmicky, Britney burst in with something edgy and so infectious nobody could stay away. Though managing top 3 here though, Baby is not even near the top 2.

 

'Baby One More Time' will ALWAYS deserve #1. It is truly the song of a nineties kid's childhood.

 

Toxic is great, Everytime is better. But, NEITHER even compare to the magnificence of 'Baby One More Time'. The 'In The Zone' era is so overrated in the UK/ Europe. I'm truly starting to detest 'Toxic', and I'm sure it will win.
