Rihanna - Umbrella

Rihanna - Bitch Better Have My Money (awful) or Work (even worse)

She has far better songs than Umbrella in my opinion.

to these~

If I'm solely thinking of follow-ups, big drops in quality that come to mind are:

Rihanna / We Found Love -> You Da One

The Saturdays / What About Us -> Gentleman

Girls Aloud / Something New -> Beautiful Cause You Love Me

Miley Cyrus / Wrecking Ball -> Adore You

Estelle / American Boy -> No Substitute Love

Spiller's Groovejet and Cry Baby - one of my favourite songs ever to one of the worst

Agree with Ethan's N-Trance example too, responsible for my absolute favourite song ever but on the whole they were pretty terrible.

I'll be listing these as Artist - Best song / Worst song

The Chainsmokers - Roses / #SELFIE

DJ Fresh - Gravity / Earthquake

Madonna - Vogue / Die Another Day

Rihanna - Russian Roulette / Work

Drake - Hold On, We're Going Home / Work

Beyoncé - Hymn For The Weekend / 7/11

DJ Snake - Lean On / Turn Down For What

Jason Derulo - Cheyenne / Wiggle

Little Mix - Black Magic / Cannonball

David Bowie - Ashes To Ashes / The Laughing Gnome

Avicii - You Make Me / Waiting For Love

Usher - Don't Look Down / I Don't Mind

Chris Lorenzo - I Wanna Be / Rhymes

Tinie Tempah - Not Letting Go / We Don't Play No Games

Jess Glynne - Don't Be So Hard On Yourself / Kill The Lights

I'll try to think of more.

Maroon 5 releasing "Daylight", "Love Somebody" and "Maps" in succession which ranged from a scale between utter dirge ("Daylight") to "I guess it was good the first couple hours but no" ("Maps"), and then releasing "Animals" which is probably one of the best songs in their discography

Jason DeRulo releasing "Marry Me" which was horrible vs. "Talk Dirty" which is his best song IMO

And don't get me started on Enrique Iglesias

It's already been said but Rihanna following up "We Found Love" with "You da One" was a huge drop in quality - especially when there was so much better material on that album to pick from.

Clean Bandit - "Rather Be" > "Extraordinary"

Major Lazer - "Lean On" > "Powerful" (back on a high with "Light It Up" though)

And then a recent opposite: Sia - "Cheap Thrills" > "Alive"

Bruno Mars - Locked Out of Heaven / The Lazy Song

Beyonce - Partition / Hold Up

Rihanna - We Found Love / You Da One

Leona Lewis - Happy / I Got You

Girls Aloud - Biology / See the Day

Christina Aguilera - Dirrty / Your Body

Katy Perry - The Teenage Dream era / The PRISM era

Britney Spears - I'm A Slave 4 U / Work Bitch

Kelly Clarkson - Because Of You / Heartbeat Song

I think there are a lot of artists who have had stellar songs yet have also had dire ones.

Please tell me you didn't just unfavourably compare 'I Begin To Wonder' to 'Perfection'?

I just find the production a bit dull compared to Perfection :) It's not terrible though imo. I liked Who Do You love Now though.

Completely agree with these!

For Usher it's more like "Caught Up" (or maybe "Climax") at his best, "DJ Got Us Fallin' in love at his worst. He was great for so many years that I can't imagine "Don't Look Down" being anywhere near his best!

How You Remind Me - good

Everything else Nickelback have ever recorded - appalling

Taylor Swift - Style/everything else she's ever written
