It's the sort of thing the silent voters will lap up though I imagine. Which leaves an intriguing four-way battle, I don't think Pupok will quite get enough to win, though it's obviously going to be very marmite and get loads of high points as well as loads of people giving it nothing. So that leaves Beaverdonia, Jadakissina and New Lexico, all very different songs that are going to rake up points across the board. I think it's going to be extremely close but as I don't want to sit on the fence, I'll stick my neck out and call Jadakissina as the marginally most likely winner. June 22, 20169 yr Yes apols Haus, during my cut and paste session, I managed to forget to copy them back in. Edited.
June 22, 20169 yr Jadakissnia as a winner? That'd be one of the most tragic winners in recent times and yhat includes Ethanola's winner (No sade to Jade personally ofc, I think she deserves a first win, just not with this abysmal excuse for a song)
June 22, 20169 yr Oh good, glad to see I'm still above the line and haven't lost all hype altogether! I don't expect to win either but I'm hoping all hype doesn't drop off and I completely underperform as I feel could happen. Gonna be the first to call that I think N DNTN are getting way too low odds in this, I thought it sounded like a potentially big contender when I heard it.
June 22, 20169 yr Oh blimey :drama: Cannot see myself as a winner, maybe 'cause i always have little expectation for my entries. Crazy to be topping odds though. Think you're on to something with Beaverdonia and New Lexico though, one of those would be my tip for the win. Also agree with Rob that N DNTN are going to do really well! Jadakissnia as a winner? That'd be one of the most tragic winners in recent times and yhat includes Ethanola's winner (No sade to Jade personally ofc, I think she deserves a first win, just not with this abysmal excuse for a song) :'( ONE day you will give me more than one point Timothy x (i appreciate the 'i think she deserves a first win part' tho)
June 23, 20169 yr I was almost tempted to pre-empt the lollerskates of Trifoski putting themselves last in their own odds by doing that myself, but I'll just settle for putting myself in the bottom 10. I hope I'll do a bit better than that but I have very low expectations. x Anyway. PersepBet final odds: 4/1 Beaverdonia // Bang La Decks - Aide 5/1 New Lexico // Celtic Woman - Tír Na nÓg (feat. Oonagh) 5/1 N DNTN // Plaitum - Jagwa 7/1 Hendinia // Mike Perry - The Ocean (feat. SHY Martin) ~ 10/1 Aeroche // Kali Uchis - Ridin Round (oshi Redo) (feat. N DNTN being very heavily underpredicted I think for something that sounds like it'll have very similar appeal to 'EXHUME' and 'WVFFLIFE'. Finding OVERWERK a very tough one to predict, I don't see it winning but it could be anywhere from like top 5 to low top 20 I think. And I still really don't see Haschak Sisters winning either, predicting around 9th for that! Then Séyetana I can see being 10th again lmao. A bit more sold now on the likelihood of Aeroche being a hit even though I still get the feeling BuzzJack just wouldn't go for such an urban song ~
June 23, 20169 yr I'm pretty convinced Hendinia have this in the bag. Yes the hype may have seemed a little muted but I feel like Sigala went through a similar process and ended up easy winners. There are lots of parallels between The Ocean and Easy Love both song-wise, BJSC-wise, taking off in the charts-wise and I think that The Ocean will win albeit with a smaller margin. Out of the other favourites I have to say that Pupok are probably the closest challengers but I hope so much that it doesn't win (sorry Lotti!). This one has lots of parallels with the now infamous Important with the novelty factor and apparent plug popularity factor. Coincidentally Lotti is also experiencing a wave of popularity on the site just as Lee was this time last year, not saying this is a factor at all in terms of voting (so everyone calm down before you accuse me of crying bloc voting) but just another parallel between the two situations. For me this would be a horrible winner just as Important would've been, although I do slightly prefer Daddy Says No to Important so there's that. That said I would love Lotti to win at some point as I know she'd be a great host, just not with this song. So there we are! Hendinia vs Pupok with the former winning is my prediction!
June 23, 20169 yr Gonna be the first to call that I think N DNTN are getting way too low odds in this, I thought it sounded like a potentially big contender when I heard it. remember who called it first when it happens x
June 23, 20169 yr I really think all this "plug hype" is being overestimated, especially when there's no where near the same amount of people going on there compared to last year. If Lotti does win (I can't see it happening myself but it would be a decent enough winner imo) it will because people genuinely like the song and find it catchy or whatever, not because of her popularity on the site or plug dj regulars getting behind it. The contest is made up for over 40 people, not even half of them often use plug so that's not really a valid excuse for why songs that a fair amount of people dislike may do well.
June 23, 20169 yr Eh I wouldn't say 'Daddy Says No' is comparable to 'Important' at all, especially with the more unsavoury implications of that comparison lol (even though I know that's not what you mean). 'Important' was actually a plug.dj meme, 'Daddy Says No' is just popular among people who happen to use plug.dj regularly. And both of them do / will obviously have significant appeal beyond people who use plug.dj anyway otherwise they wouldn't have got near winning. (and can this thread please not turn into another bloc voting argument now - I've just posted odds!!!1) ((also I expect the SILENT MAJORITY will be with Hendinia regardless of the surprisingly high about of average to bad reaction it's had, not sure that'll be enough for it to win though it's certainly possible))
June 23, 20169 yr It's just a catchy pop song. If it doesn't matter that Lotti is popular now, why mention it? We know that you don't mean it that way but there's no need to bring it up in that case. It feels like people are always trying to drag certain people's achievements down in BJSC with "bloc voting" or "plug.dj clique". People wouldn't vote for it if they didn't want to and they didn't like it  Daddy Says No is very refreshing if nothing else amongst lots of blog pop and dance songs.
June 23, 20169 yr yes discuss Taahino's odds of getting their first top ten really though a filter should be put on the term bloc voting im so sick of hearing about it
June 23, 20169 yr yes discuss Taahino's odds of getting their first top ten PersepBet special odds on Taahino being top 10: 5/1 Think it's probably more likely to be another mid teens finish. x
June 23, 20169 yr Author Is the whole "plug clique" thing the new "skype clique" thing now? Jeez. Plot twist: I defy the odds and claim a top 10. #NuTrifoski (In all seriousness I think "Daddy Says No" may be just as polarizing as "Important". Like I don't see it getting the amount of votes the latter got, but probably near the same amount of 18's.)
June 23, 20169 yr Is the whole "plug clique" thing the new "skype clique" thing now? Jeez. there's so many supposed 'cliques' that 'rival' skype now I honestly can't keep up
June 23, 20169 yr Is the whole "plug clique" thing the new "skype clique" thing now? Jeez. A lot of us go on plug so it's not a clique it's just people's way to deny the popularity of songs they dislike and can't get their head around being popular  I mean I wouldn't say The Ocean qualified because of skype for example just because Rob sent it and I dislike it. People just like it, and that's that, I don't care about that fact bc it happens many times every month in BJSC!
