I wonder if the news of one of Europe's leading referees (largely a hated profession) will be greeted with positive fashion in Saudi Arabia? Bizarre move.
Shame, I thought he was one of the better referees from a mediocre bunch. Not sure I want to see more of Moss or Friend!

Hey Cass! Saw your lounge post. Been a crazy few weeks eh!

Really Roo? I reckon he's the worst of the admittedly piss poor bunch. He's openly bias against teams when the crowd turns on him. In any normal profession that'd be a sackable offence. His partisan refereeing makes Trump supporters and the sane world look agreeable and non-partisan!

LOL.

Clattenburg is far from the worst ref in the Premier League. He's usually quite decent actually.

And it's no just me as a United fan being bitter about the Derby he completely f***ed. An Everton fan was elated on my course today. (Admittedly also holding a grudge over a derby that Clattenburg f***ed)

All referees make mistakes, but imo you don't referee the Champions League final and Euro final without getting most things right. Sure he has made some bad decisions (which refs haven't?) but I always thought he (along with Michael Oliver) are by far and away the best of a bad bunch in the Premier League. I wouldn't take an Everton fan's word for anything, they still think Collina and UEFA conspired against them to not be in Europe :D

The only criticism about Clattenburg, is that he is quite an attention seeker.

Very interesting there with him moving to Saudi Arabia. He didn't do the three yellow card trick unlike Poll.

He did make massive mistakes during derby games though.

I know that I said I would stop posting ArsenalFanTV videos here but this video is definitely worth watching as opinions between the media and normal football fans affects all teams. This video will make a lot of headline news over the next few days as well.

What do you make of Wayne Rooney possibly quitting Man United and moving to China?

Likely or just rumours compared re 2010.

Likely. Fact is these days we've got much better options in every position he plays in. He's slow and holds up play and our flow. That doesn't suit the way we play. It was fine under LVG when pace and creativity was illegal but now we're back to fergie style he's just no good enough any more. He's no happy to play a bit part or be an impact sub because he thinks he's better than he is. He's still got something to offer clubs, just not united.

There will be many who won't be sad to see him go to be honest. He's repeatedly held the club to ransom for money. History will be kind to him though.

I'm not sure the question was that Wayne doesn't fit into united at the moment - it would be shocking for him to go to China. He doesn't fit in for the reasons you state but Zlatlan fit fine and he's 5 years older but he doesn't drop deep to get the ball.

I'm not sure I would say Jose has them playing like fergie yet lol but he's doing what Jose does and has a functioning machine that gets win after win, and no doubt he will most likely win the league next season!

Win the league and then the team collapses in his third season :D Way too early to be making those types of predictions anyway. The Top 6 are all well capable of special things, as always, a lot of it depends on luck and the form of other teams!

The problem for Rooney is that he is still a competent striker, but he's not good or clever enough to adjust his style to fit in to a team with big prospects. He's not tall, fast, doesn't work particular hard etc. the only thing he has is his technique. Imo he could work on his fitness a lot more and I still think he could do a job in the Man Utd side as a striker. The problem he has, is that his wages are so high, no other team can afford him. I can't see him taking a pay cut. I imagine he will go go China, play there for 18 months then return to Everton/West Ham/Newcastle etc.

Ranieri gone..

Typical this season, teams in bad form always seem to get rid of their managers before we play them :D

Has there been confirmation?

Leicester City Football Club has tonight (Thursday) parted company with its First Team Manager, Claudio Ranieri.

Leicester City Football Club has tonight (Thursday) parted company with its First Team Manager, Claudio Ranieri.

Claudio, appointed City manager in July 2015, led the Foxes to the greatest triumph in the Club’s 133-year history last season, as we were crowned champions of England for the first time. His status as the most successful Leicester City manager of all time is without question.

However, domestic results in the current campaign have placed the Club’s Premier League status under threat and the Board reluctantly feels that a change of leadership, while admittedly painful, is necessary in the Club’s greatest interest.

Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “This has been the most difficult decision we have had to make in nearly seven years since King Power took ownership of Leicester City. But we are duty-bound to put the Club’s long-term interests above all sense of personal sentiment, no matter how strong that might be.

“Claudio has brought outstanding qualities to his office. His skilful management, powers of motivation and measured approach have been reflective of the rich experience we always knew he would bring to Leicester City. His warmth, charm and charisma have helped transform perceptions of the Club and develop its profile on a global scale. We will forever be grateful to him for what he has helped us to achieve.

“It was never our expectation that the extraordinary feats of last season should be replicated this season. Indeed, survival in the Premier League was our first and only target at the start of the campaign. But we are now faced with a fight to reach that objective and feel a change is necessary to maximise the opportunity presented by the final 13 games.”

First Team preparations for Monday’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool will resume on Saturday, with Assistant Manager Craig Shakespeare and First Team Coach Mike Stowell taking charge of the squad until a new manager is appointed.

Assistant Manager and First Team Coach Paolo Benetti and First Team Sport Science and Conditioning Coach Andrea Azzalin have also parted company with the Club and leave with our thanks for their service and best wishes for the future.

The Board will now begin the recruitment process and will make no further comment until that process is completed.
