Biography - Calvin Harris

Adam Richard Wiles (born 17 January 1984), known professionally as Calvin Harris, is a Scottish DJ, singer, songwriter, record producer, recording artist and remixer. His debut studio album, I Created Disco, was released in 2007 and was the precursor to his top-10 singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls". In 2009, Harris released his second studio album, Ready for the Weekend, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and earned a gold certification from the British Phonographic Industry within two months of release. Its lead single, "I'm Not Alone", became his first number one on the UK Singles Chart.

Harris rose to international prominence in 2012 with the release of his third studio album, 18 Months. Topping the UK charts, the album became his first to chart on the Billboard 200 in the US, reaching number 19. All eight of the album's singles; "Bounce", "Let's Go", "We'll Be Coming Back", "Sweet Nothing", "Drinking from the Bottle", "I Need Your Love", "Thinking About You" and "Feel So Close", along with "We Found Love" reached the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart.

Harris has collaborated with numerous other recording artists, including Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora, John Newman, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding, Ne-Yo, Cheryl Cole and Gwen Stefani. His collaboration with Rihanna led to two singles, "Where Have You Been" and "We Found Love". The latter became an international success, giving Harris his first US number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. Harris released his fourth studio album, Motion, in November 2014. It debuted at number two in the UK and number five in the US, and became Harris's second consecutive number-one album on the Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The album's first three singles—"Under Control", "Summer" and "Blame"—all topped the UK chart.

Harris holds the record for the most top 10 songs from one studio album on the UK Singles Chart with nine top 10 entries, surpassing Michael Jackson. In October 2014, he became the first artist to place three songs simultaneously on the top 10 of Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart. He also became the first British solo artist to reach more than one billion streams on Spotify. Harris has received ten Brit Award nominations—three for Best British Male, and four Grammy nominations, winning a Grammy for Best Music Video in 2013. He received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2013 and at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards was named Top Dance/Electronic Artist. Additionally, Harris topped Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid DJs for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015. Harris also runs his own record label Fly Eye Records. - Wikipedia

Biography

Born in Ystad, Sweden in 1989, Frans Jeppsson Wall's first brush with fame came when he was seven years old and featured on the Swedish chart hit "Who's Da Man" by Elias. Released to coincide with the Euro 2006 soccer tournament, the single paid tribute to Swedish soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimović, and remained at the top of the Swedish singles chart for some 13 weeks. At the end of 2006, Frans released his own single, "Kul med Jul," although it didn't fare as well his previous single, the track still reached the singles chart and was featured on his Universal-released debut album Da Man. Two years later, Frans returned with another soccer-themed hit, "Fotbollsfest," which once again reached the top spot on the Swedish singles chart. It wouldn't be until 2016 that Frans re-entered the limelight, though, with his entry into Melodifestivalen 2016. The competition -- which finds the artist to best represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest -- saw Frans taking the top spot with the judges and viewers. The song "If I Were Sorry" placed fifth at the final Eurovision show in Stockholm yet went on to place high in the singles charts across Europe. - iTunes

Drake better not beat Bryan Adams' record. He ain't fit to breathe the same air as Bryan Adams

such a shame that Kungs still can't get to #1. I think his chance is gone now as he's lost a bit of iTunes momentum :(

Nine non-movers in the top 10 is hilarious though but for all the wrong reasons :(

He's also Canadian though :P

Compared to Drake, Bryan Adams is a legend. He was #1 during a time where people actually had to get up off their own arse to BUY a song they liked

His future song with Jamie N Commons can go to #1 instead tbh :D

The Drake song is in no way worthy of setting the chart records it already has let alone top the Bryan Adams record. Once Dance wont be heard of in 5 years time let alone 25 years time.

Delighted with Adele entering the top 15 officially, i would like to believe it can make the top 10 eventually. Sigala at the least have now added another top 10 hit to their credentials.

Take That not top 40 after a top 40 placing all week. I have yet to see positions 41-100 but i would be delighted if they are top 45.

Stupid things that UK people do:

- Vote Brexit

- Stream One Dance

Both on 2 different extremes.

Wonderful Beverley Knight clung on to a top 25 position this week. Radio 2 album of the week helped a little bit achieve this i would think.

kungs :snif:  :snif: ~ 'this girl' is such an amazing summer jam  B-)

:drama: @ drake making it 11 weeks @ #1 ~ when's the justin bieber remix out? :kink:

hopefully never. we don't need it spending another 11 weeks at #1

Sigala has all odd-numbered peaks in the top 10. By this logic I hope they collaborate with Fuse ODG next :magic:

Trust you to pick that pattern fact out ;) :P

One Dance - YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Lets go for the 12 weeks.

wooooooooo hoooooooooooooooo

I wish it was Too Good with 11 weeks at #1 :(

I like that the charts are slower-moving, it's better than people manipulating it to get a high peak then free fall

It was so nice to be following this chart again! Thanks so much Joseph!

No worries Cody, thank you and everyone else for participating! This thread's probably the most enjoyable part of the chart these days

well hopefully there's a little bit more movement at the top end of the chart next week :P

though the Billboard chart seems to have very little movement from week to week and that still gets talked about a lot, so I'm sure the UK chart will remain interesting (especially with it accurately reflecting what people are listening to now)
