It feels like the Labour leadership is Rebecca Long-Bailey's for the taking. They've really pimped her up the last year or so to take over from Corbyn when he decides to step aside.

When will Labour see sense and let Yvette have her rightful position as leader.

I agree. Yvette should be the next leader.

Keir Starmer is bookies favourite but only slightly ahead of Long-Bailey.

Why is that dubious?

See below

Hardly likely to swing Tory voters.

But more likely to interest previously unengaged voters. And Gove and the like talking down to him (and mocking) is very much a 'stay in your lane' rhetoric that they should not be stooping to.

So young people should be influenced by what a rap star says - and you still think the under-18's should have a vote?

Your point was that it was a dubious endorsement. Of course, there’s hidden intentions behind that statement but it is not dubious when it encourages those who least likely to go out and vote (young people and, in particular, young black people)

Yes. The over 18s, especially the baby boomers, are influenced by what the tory press and bbtory say. If they weren't the disco citizens party would poll less than 10%.

The most hilarious part is that you *really* believe that.

Why not exactly? He might be "rap star" but it's still perfectly possible for him to have an interest in politics and be invested in it. If it encourages more people to register to vote then that's no bad thing. Or is the thing that really bothers you is who his audience(mostly younger) are more likely to vote for?

This argument could literally be applied to all political endorsements. He's given his reasons, his fans take notice, this is a good thing. In a partisan sense, it's also good because it counteracts the right-wing media spin, and I agree with him. Under-18s have nothing to do with it.

What bothers me is that rap stars are seldom good role models for the young...

Oh come off it. This is all because they won't vote for your precious tories. That's what this is about.
So we should make generalizations based on someones profession and dismiss them straight away?

Same could be said for racist, sexist, homophobic, lying right wing politicians. Now they're not good role models for either the young or old

Its what Right Wing people do
