PI had a radio deal yesterday. It was played every hour on iHeart stations.

That instrumental has shown me that I do like the production, I'm just not a fan of everything else.

Same! I can't see this list changing, but I really think the video will help me form a solid (good) opinion on 'Perfect Illusion'. I've listened to it several times and the initially daunting unconventional nature of the song has worn off now and I can appreciate it for being something different but still catchy in its special way. I'm liking the suggestions of there being an extended edition with guitar solos because I could picture that really transforming the song further.

 

I can appreciate this isn't a killer comeback as such (I'm pretty sure there will be more poppy and well-rounded songs on the album) but it is a strong statement in terms of being out there and unconventional, which does make it a good lead. They seem to be the two main factors for being a good lead to me: killer or statement, or both.

I've had about 10 listens now. It's kind of catchy but still pretty jarring and weak for her. Tonight it will get its 'me drunk' test, so hopefully that will change things... But as it stands:

Here on my first ever trip to this AF haha. Ok I'm not even really a fan of Gaga but I heard the new sang and I've got to say for me it's probably one of the best things I've heard from her, I liked some of her 2009 era, but for me Born This Way and Artpop on the whole were pretty weak so it's a nice return to form for her, it shows off her voice well and demonstrates yet again (after Cheek To Cheek) how capable she is as a vocalist especially in terms of versatility.

I definitely prefer PI to Applause but BTW is probably just outside my top 100 of all time, and JD is probably aout top 75, so it's way too early for PI to compare to those. Nothing will ever compare to Bad Romance as that's a serious contender for my fave song of all time, it's easily locked in on top 5.
