October 6, 200619 yr David Hasselhoff..lol. This song was originally done by Chris Spedding in the late seventies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Spedding I tell a lie, it was FIRST done by this band, in 1975 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MUBCUx_HEM
October 6, 200619 yr PS The Hoff better not overtake Bob Sinclar or there'll be hell to pay. IMO there is no way he is #3 - songs simply don't rise from where he was on the Monday midweeks that fast.
October 6, 200619 yr IMO there is no way he is #3 - songs simply don't rise from where he was on the Monday midweeks that fast. Well this case is an exception. Nearly the whole of Radio 1 is backing Scott Mills campaign and at least every half hour they mention it so yeah.
October 6, 200619 yr Author IMO there is no way he is #3 - songs simply don't rise from where he was on the Monday midweeks that fast. Unfortunately its true
October 6, 200619 yr I think it is outrageous that the whole of Radio 1 seem willing to promote a truly horrific single by an American act (& an awful one at that) every half-hour, whilst each show is playing the track once on each show. It is yet another example of the appalling waste of tax-payer's money that funds Radio1. And arguably gives a lot of music fans a horribly good reason to vote Conservative at the next election (Tony Cameron has said that he is strongly in favour of privatising Radio1 as it does not offer anything unique to other (commercial chart) Radio stations unlike Radio2; while he has been highly critical of the station for supporting multi-national successful USA acts at the expense of up & coming British acts. Look at it's playlist - where are Amy Winehouse; Nerina Pallot; The Pipettes, Badly Drawn Boy or the Pet Shop Boys, etc?

At least Shakira had class and was enourmously popular despite Radio 1 not playing it. -_-

During the day, maybe but no commercial station is as good or diverse as Radio 1 after 7pm!
October 6, 200619 yr Look at it's playlist - where are Amy Winehouse; Nerina Pallot; The Pipettes, Badly Drawn Boy or the Pet Shop Boys, etc? Same could be said about Radio 2. Why do they playlist "American rubbish" like Beyonce and Rihanna? And where are The Automatic, Hot Chip, Kasabian, The View, The Ordinary Boys or Keane? All new UK stuff that Radio 1 play. And why is it FULL of MoR?
October 6, 200619 yr IMO there is no way he is #3 - songs simply don't rise from where he was on the Monday midweeks that fast. They do now  The Hoff was released on monday on CD and Download so a lot of its initial sales were on Physical before people realised that the download was available and that the joke would only cost them 79p not £3 so a large proportion of the more recent sales have been from downloads On a completely separate note, I see Shakira is back up again from the early mids now just 2 places below the top 10  What staying power B)

Why the heck are they playing and promoting a song that is obviously worst????

And where are The Automatic, Hot Chip, Kasabian, The View, The Ordinary Boys or Keane? All new UK stuff that Radio 1 play. And why is it FULL of MoR? Ironic, considering BBC 6 Music played The Automatic, Hot Chip, Kasabian, The View & Keane BEFORE Radio1. But maybe (like Radio 2) & unlike Radio1, they have DJ's (Steve Lamacq, Andrew Collins, Stuart Maconie, Steve Sutherland, Marc Riley, Phill Jupitus, Nemone, etc) who love music & are capable of spotting new talent, as most were former journalists or musicians, rather than a bunch of egomaniacs looking at the next career opportunity to branch into TV while looking at Radio2 & BBC 6 Music and the Billboard Top20 or relying on Tim Westwood's say so for new music for their playlists. Seriously, with the exception of Jo Whiley & Edith Bowman, who on the daytime lineup of Radio1 DJs cares about music?

Seriously, with the exception of Jo Whiley & Edith Bowman, who on the daytime lineup of Radio1 DJs cares about music? I dare say 6 Music playlisted the artists you mentioned before Radio 2 did. Ironic, eh? Probably none of them. Spoony does I'd say but he's an arse anyway... I do think that their playlist is alright though. They have their target audience which they aim at. It's not the same as either Radio 2's or 6Music's which is why they play the music they do and they have the DJs they have. I don't listen to daytime Radio 1 because I'm not much of a fan, but I probably would do if I did listen to radio (I would listen to 6 but I get a $h!t reception)
October 6, 200619 yr Rumour has it that Gina G has jumped into the top 40 now-great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome! :cheer:
October 6, 200619 yr I will well annoyed if The Hoff beats Razorlight to Number 1! Although Hoff is different, I count Razorlight as a proper song, and novelty acts drag the chart down, imo.
October 6, 200619 yr no matter what happens the hoff will plummet down the charts next week but the song is terrible and does not deserve such promotion, razorlight ,the scissor sisters and bob sinclair should be higher than it,also it woul dbe good if the gina g song made th etop 40 for her sunday
October 7, 200619 yr I just got a message from Nerina Pallot, saying that Sophia is now safely inside the Top 40 :D Yay!
October 7, 200619 yr Razorlight should hold him off easy, hopefully. Go Razorlight :cheer: Yep!! :cheer:
