None of the new releases this week seem to be potential top 40 new entries then, the Bon Jovi, Courteeners and Green Day songs are all so high from fanbase buys I imagine.

Heard that Florence song on Radio 1 this morning though and it sounded great, maybe that could do something though its streams won't be good.

People literally wait for songs to be 59p it seems, i knew it would happen eventually. Good move this week, wasn't making much progress.

As Record of the Day have pointed out, reducing singles to 59p is beginning to bite labels in the bum. People are now waiting for them to reduce the price and turning their nose up at 99p downloads. It just further reinforces people's low sense of the value of music. It might give boosts to certain singles in the short term but in the long term it's a bad idea.

As I've said before, 99p is just too much for one song these days. They need make the standard price 59p

Indeed. I seem to recall 'Because We Can' going as high as #6 on iTunes but only just scrapped the Top 40, so I don't think there's a cat in hell's chance of the new Bon Jovi song reaching the Top 40 this time, especially when the cut off is almost 16k now!

This is what the combined chart would look like if streams were weighted as 200 streams to 1 sale.

 100. Tove Lo - Cool Girl

Hopefully the label will reduce it to 59p soon

I don't think you need to worry about this for a few weeks. Radio 1 will support it after a few weeks and it'll slowly start climbing again.

The Tide starting to drop already - Good to see Bon Jovi being Top 20 although with streams they are probably coming for that #73 smash.

The thing is though the 59p price tag seems to have struck a chord with buyers - I'll happily stream and will usually only purchase once a track is 59p, I had no intentions of buying Ollys track and was content with streaming, Same for Jonas Blue, Calum Scott etc.,

With so many albums being sold for £4.99 - £6.99 now and Google Play having weekly £1.99 albums (And 99p events every few months) paying 99p for 1 track seems so inflated, For example Lukas Graham's 'Mama Said' was 99p while their album was available for £1.99 on Google.

New Green Day song is good :) . With it, Bon Jovi and the Stone Roses and Viola Beach earlier this year, we have had more rock tracks in the itunes top 40 this year so far than many recent years.

Also I see that annoying song in that National Citizenship advert has appeared at number #167 :(

That is exactly my point though. By cutting prices of certain singles and albums to ridiculously low levels, people now see 99p as too much so the industry has completely shot itself in the foot. It's all about short term gains and no consideration for the long term.
