I really like the new arrangement! My problem is that if they've done this to spread the/a message, they're not doing that at all by making this exclusive to Apple Music? Bit of an oxymoron and it makes me very cynical.

WTF? What on Earth have they done to the infectious melody?!? Omg. :(
The original song is so timeless so it seems ridiculous that they have to turn it into a generic 2016 beat, very average.

That's weird that you say that as I think this sounds anything but current.

The song's been ruined :( It was a nice idea and the original remains one of my faves of all time but this is just awful!

I'm a bit errr at all this really as the original is a true classic and what's best about it is it feels like it genuinely came from the heart and concern of the state of the world at the time by the group, as they weren't widely well known at the time. This, while the song can apply today easily, kinda feels more like a sly ploy to get publicity of of all this especially with all the celebrity features. Idk, perhaps I'm too cynical about this, a straight re-release of the song would've been better, if they must at all.

I've only heard the first minute and a half as it's been taken off Youtube and the Apple Music thing (which as Froot mentioned, really conflicts with the message), but...no, honestly this production does not suit the song, hash tags should NEVER be used in a song title and this song is meant to be a sing along anthem not a dated 00s slow jam. I had to listen to the original after to cleanse myself of it :(

Now all we need is Billy Joel - We Didn't Start The Fire 2016, because there is loads of new stuff that could be mentioned in that song.

There's loads of unofficial, fan made modern versions out there, though

's probably the best one that gives a good view of 1990-2012 (though they could fit in a whole new verse based on 2016 alone).

Is that Rihanna on the left?? :o
That's Andra Day! (Pretty much what you'd get if you meshed Rihanna and Jessie J together.)

I don't actually think it's that bad. But then I wasn't a massive fan of the original while I liked all of their other pre-I Gotta Feeling singles. WITL just always seemed a bit beige in comparison but then maybe that's why it had more mass appeal? I think the Mary J feature was comical though. I mean, she turns up on almost every "various artists" singles. Jessie J also should've stayed away but at least she didn't go full belt over the song.

And I don't think Fergie having a big part in this song would look good. She barely featured on the original (maybe that's why I didn't like it) so giving her an extra part this time would look like the BEPs were massaging Fergie's ego.

Actually come to think of it, Will.i.am's intro should've been edited out and Jaden Smith echoing A$AP made him look ridiculous. The raps were the best parts though.

"Where's the love?" is exactly what I thought when I heard those vocals. :| Seriously bad, sucking all emotion out of the song.

It's like one of those awful X Factor finalists charity song videos and also reminds me of all the faux-emotion in the 2004 version of Band Aid where the singers are watching clips of Africans suffering.

Jessie is one of the best things about this version tbh. But I knew I'd like her part anyway sooooo...
I actually really like this version. I'm glad it's not a carbon copy of the original and has changed in its production and arrangement. The guests are alright, but I'm glad to see/hear Fergie on there and the message of the song is seriously so fitting for right now.
i really cannot make myself get into this at all. it's just too tragic.

At least the negative response won't taint some people's views on the original since they're so different to one another.

Mary J makes the song, it's not THAT bad, I do quite like it. The charity faces knock me sick especially when Will keeps looking at the left at the start :puke2: Jessie j is still vile.
