It's fantastic - Annie Macs Record of the Week!

Yeah that's where I heard it!

James Arthur's success is simultaneously baffling (because how did he even have enough name power left to get off to such a good start?) and completely understandable (as it's the exact sort of song that would be a big hit). It's a fairly good song, I usually cannot stand his voice but it's not too bad on this.

I find it baffling too. You see huge artists struggle but an unheard of song from an artist who wasn't that popular in the first place, (who people disliked if anything) with no airplay jumps up like that...I really can't understand the logic.

Giggs for #1 tbh (I feel like ML Hammer95 would support this). It has some absolutely awful lyrics, but it's kind of a jam.

Lock Doh is a jam! Great grinding song in a club...

That's what I love about the charts though. It's similar to when 'Moves Like Jagger' took off. 4 years prior, a feature on a Rihanna song couldn't give Maroon 5 a hit while a year prior Christina flopped with her comeback. As much as I don't like JA's voice, the chart geek in me loves a shock hit.

Well, technically Rihanna featured on Maroon 5's track. 😂

Current Voice winner Kevin Simm released a new single called "Wildfire" yesterday. Not into top 1500? Not good!
Who's Tom Zanetti? An offaiah-style performance from it so far.
He had a deep house song last year 'Darlin' which got some radio one support but didn't make any chart impact. Not heard this new one yet - surprised it's doing this well.

Yeah, always puzzles me how established acts like Lost Frequencies and Avicii can massively flop with a single yet the likes of offaiah and Tom Zanetti can initially go top 30 with a single?

In other news James Arthur is the furthest ahead he's ever been, I'd love for him to push Closer down to 0.5

I'd say because it's something fresh and different. Radio 1 gave a lot of support to Offaiah months before it was released so I'm not surprised at its success. Tom Zanetti is popular on social media so this may just be an initial surge before it drops back again.

I wouldn't paint Lost Frequencies with the same brush as Avicii in terms of 'established' though... Are You With Me was always going to be popular but that's it from him whereas Avicii has had multiple Top 10s and is hardly struggling.

Remember James did have the best-selling winner's single of all time. He was a popular winner at the time, and most people either don't know or have forgotten about what happened afterwards. He still has 2 million Twitter followers. He had enough of a fanbase to get the single off the ground.

I wish Tom Zanetti - Darlin' had made some chart impact, it's one of the best dance tracks of recent years. Maybe they can push it again at a later date? I don't think it received any real R1 support first time around except for INMWT list (or maybe not even that, perhaps just TOTD and not playlisting it like they tend to do).

Glad to see this doing well anyway!

Taste The Feeling initially failed to crack the iTunes top 100, which is what I was referring to. I'd have thought it would have reached top 20 on iTunes at least.

8. Emeli Sande – Hurts (+45)

22. Tom Zanetti - You Want Me (feat. Sadie Ama)

50. Wiley - Can't Go Wrong

59. Shawn Mendes – Don't Be A Fool

75. Giggs - Lock Doh (feat. Donae'o)

82. Hailee Steinfeld & Grey - Starving (feat. Zedd)

89. NEIKED - Sexual (feat. Dyo)

90. Pentatonix - Jolene (feat. Dolly Parton)

101. Jacob Plant & Stylo GBike Engine (Radio Edit)

111. Anna Kendrick & Justin Timberlake - True Colors

504. Coldplay - Up&Up (Freedo Remix)

1112. Pet Shop Boys - Say It to Me (New Radio Mix)

It feels very 2012 with James, Emeli and Sia all in the top 10. :o Really praying that Emeli bags a number one with 'Hurts' - the verses are killer.

I think that was just such a unpopular track no one wanted to buy it, especially when it featured on a heavily-rotated advert!
