I would have thought Hadji would be up for Mariah finally getting her turn robbed after those chart hogging scum East 17 had the audacity to block her and every other new hit for multiple weeks...

Maybe we could try it again? iTunes sales were obviously a lot higher back then so therefore it would be very interesting to see how little sales a song needs to go top 1500!

It wasn't that long ago tbh, just earlier this year, so I don't think sales will be much different! :heehee:

Ohh ok. I thought that maybe it was a few years ago

On the huge release thingy tomorrow, Annie Mac said it's new material from The Weeknd.

Oh my! Two of my favourite artists of all time collaborating?! Too good to be true.

What a way to end the year of crappy and beige (mainly dance) number 1's. :drama:

I just want one massive, pure pop smash to be number 1. Really hated the charts this year. So many amazing songs have missed out to unoriginal, uninspired crap. :drama: It says a lot when my fave number 1 of this year was also a number 1 from the end of last year. :\ (and if we're talking about "new" chart hits then it's Shawn Mendes - Stitches and Zayn - Pillowtalk, both of which are quite dull to me now)

I know many of you right now love it, but it's awful for me.

EDIT: YES. I am bitter!!! :arrr:

Daft Punk aren't exactly trend-hoppers so we can hope they'll actually bring something vaguely original to the table, and it'll smash either way because of The Weeknd's streaming impakt.

Agreed totally to Jonjo above. I'm in my late twenties so I'm hardly gonna enjoy the charts as much as my partying college/uni days (2008-2012) but I look back at a year like 1995, which I'd adore if that was the stuff being released now, and wonder what's gone so wrong. I used to think music would evolve into new and exciting sounds - it hasn't, it's gone backwards and boring.

It all started so well this year too, I was thrilled when 'In Ibiza' became such a huge #1. Then Drake happened :P

Couldn't agree more. Hopefully this year isn't a sign of what is to come and 2017 is more like 2013.

I reckon it's more likely to be Bruno Mars tomorrow - everyone already knows about Daft Punk & The Weeknd so no need for NDA - and if it was The Weeknd, Annie would have broken it!

Yeah this has been one of the worst chart years I can remember. It's not even like there's a lack of good chart music like there was (imo) last year. We have new exciting pop artists like Dua Lipa, M.O., Anne-Marie and MO all underperforming and then big exciting pop comebacks from the likes of Britney, GaGa, Demi and others doing terribly.

I agree we are WAY overdue a big pop #01. Work From Home, Cheap Thrills and Lush Life all should have got there :(.

 35. Lady GaGa - Perfect Illusion

Thought the music video would have more effect :(. With c list on radio 1 and music video release already I really can't see it staying around very long. Streaming is also pretty poor. As a huge fan of hers I just don't understand why this is underperforming :(

29. Rag'n'Bone Man - Human

40. Craig David & Sigala - Ain't Giving Up

41. Tory Lanez - Luv

58. NEIKED - Sexual (feat. Dyo)

61. Travis - Idlewild (feat. Josephine Oniyama)

70. Hailee Steinfeld & Grey - Starving (feat. Zedd)

73. Francis and the Lights - Friends (feat. Bon Iver)

138. Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker

155. Leah McFall - Wolf Den

So The Weeknd Reese his new single with Daft Punk and its gonna rule the world. A world class. Bring it on!!!

530 The Weeknd Starboy (feat. Daft Punk)

(+ also at #603)

401. The Weeknd ft Daft Punk - Starboy

458. The Weeknd ft Daft Punk - Starboy

Is it advertised on the iTunes front page?
