January 17, 20187 yr Faith has sold more than Merrymaking despite not charting? He does have a great back catalogue in fairness, I just wish 'Feel So Close' and 'Summer' could swap positions though!
January 17, 20187 yr tl;dr Acceptable In The 80s 270k (220k) I'm Not Alone 647k (587k) Feel So Close 725k (545k) Summer 980k (480k) Seems a bit off putting 'Ready For The Weekend' on that list even if Mary Pearce received no official credit though to be fair Calvin did do most of the singing on that. Likewise, Ayah Marar has uncredited vocals on 'Flashback'.
January 17, 20187 yr Good point re: "Flashback" as well - hadn't realised it was Ayah Marar! Glad she got credited for "Thinking About You".

April 17, 20187 yr The OCC running this same article (with updated figures obvz) 3 times in the space of less than 2 years? I know it's largely because it predates streaming but 'I'm Not Alone' being that low hurts my soul. Even 'My Way' being ahead of it? I don't hate 'My Way' or anything but... no. 'Under Control' is also way too low but that's understandable as it's easily the most forgotten of his #1s. Also wtf at 'Outside' outselling 'I Need Your Love' by 100k
April 17, 20187 yr Is it fair to say 'My Way' is a key example of something doing well purely based on an artist's name?
April 17, 20187 yr Not really. Calvin's had quite a few flops. His name sure helped but My Way only did so well because it's super commercial.
April 17, 20187 yr Not really. Calvin's had quite a few flops. His name sure helped but My Way only did so well because it's super commercial. I would argue This Is What You Came For was more commercial sounding than My Way I think. My Way was a progressive house track which was rare at that time in the charts, whereas TIWYCF fitted into the current dance style of the time well. Also My Way just had Calvin and some backing singers singing, whereas TIWYCF had a big name featured vocalist of course ;) Edited April 17, 20187 yr by The Snake 🐍
April 17, 20187 yr I thought 'My Way' was just pandering to the tropical house craze which was all the rage around that time in 2016. (Plus it was coming off the back of TIWYCF which had been mega huge) Edited April 17, 20187 yr by Tawdry Hepburn

February 27, 20241 yr And so many bangers not even in the top 20 - 'Let's Go' and 'We'll Be Coming Back' to name just two (and both #2 hits aswell!)
February 27, 20241 yr I'm amazed 'My Way' has done so much and more than others on this list that feels bigger/better remembered. I genuinely haven't heard that since the year it came out and I can barely even remember how it goes now.

February 28, 20241 yr What's particularly surprising is how big lots of his pre-streaming sales are. He must have been huge on downloads. Edited February 28, 20241 yr by Rob

I genuinely haven't heard that since the year it came out and I can barely even remember how it goes now. My Way is underrated imo. Although coming after HDIYL and TIFYCF was always gonna be a struggle. I’m a bit surprised Miracle hasn’t sold more seeing as it was #1 for the same length as One Kiss. It must have really fallen off after then.
