The thing is a lot of these acts are getting big drops but are actually selling the same amount they always have - some of the metal bands have had several albums charting in the 50s previously and are suddenly getting an 8-87 chart run album on the same sales due to the tragic market.

The real flop's for me are the likes of PJ Harvey and Britney who in such a shite market should have enough fans/casual buyers to cushion their rapid falls rather than some metal band.

This week:

Prophets Of Rage - Prophets Of Rage (6-61)

Sampha - Process [RE-ENTRY following the album winning the Mercury Prize] (7-94)

Damn, that Sampha drop was huge. Not as huge as a drop as Saint Raymond's Young Blood album had to go through.

Time to resurrect this thread as Embrace have had a laughable fall from #5 to #112 with 'Love Is A Basic Need'. In the same week, Breeders fall 9-82 with 'All Nerve'. Here's a compilation of all the heavy fallers of 2018. Has any album fell from #5 straight out the chart before?

05-59 | Don Broco - Technology (15/02/18)

05-OUT | Embrace - Love Is A Basic Need (15/03/18) {fell to #112}

06-65 | Franz Ferdinand - Always Ascending (22/02/18)

06-90 | The Temperance Movement - A Deeper Cut (01/03/18)

07-51 | Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart - Black Coffee (08/02/18)

08-OUT | Michael Bublé - Christmas (04/01/18)

09-82 | Breeders - All Nerve (15/03/18)

and from last year since the most recent post:

05-48 | Beck - Colors (26/10/17)

05-48 | Morrissey - Low In High School (30/11/17)

05-84 | Enter Shikari - The Spark (05/10/17)

06-43 | a-ha - MTV Unplugged - Summer Solstice (19/10/17)

06-45 | St. Vincent - Masseduction (26/10/17)

07-76 | Marilyn Manson - Heaven Upside Down (19/10/17)

07-93 | Black Country Communion - BCCIV (05/10/17)

08-100 | Shed Seven - Instant Pleasures (23/11/17)

08-OUT | The Darkness - Pinewood Smile (19/10/17)

08-OUT | The Horrors - V (05/10/17)

10-53 | Jason Manford - A Different Stage (19/10/17)

10-59 | The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (02/11/17)

10-87 | Feeder - The Best Of (12/10/17)

Didn't the last Pet Shop Boys album Super have a big drop? I can't remember positions but if anyone can remind me?

It dropped 3-21-48, which isn't actually that bad in comparison to what's been documented in this thread.
In 2015, Bars & Melody’s album 143 did a 4-OUT

Ah yes, that must be the record then. That still makes Embrace the only to drop 5-OUT though unless any other album has passed us by (1950s ones when the chart was a top 12 or however long it was don't count)

I wonder what debut chart position has had the most amount of dropouts the week after?
Was it The Vamps who smashed Christina's record for a drop from number 1? Do they still hold it?
I think my beloved Fifth Harmony had a hefty drop from the Top 10 last year but can't remember its exact position...

Dropped to 79 from a debut position of 10.

In Your Own Sweet Time (5-115, 1,017 sales) by The Fratellis, I’ll Be Your Girl (8-175, 873 sales) by The Decemberists and You Are Someone Else by Fickle Friends, which plunges out of the Top 200 from No.9, with sales of just 683 copies in the week.

not one but three huge casualties this week!!!

Have we ever had top ten to out the top 200 before?

Bars And Melody went from #4 to outside the top 200 didn't they?

Ouch at Fickle Friends though. I thought they'd have held up better than those other two considering the amount of support they have got from R1!
