Another insanely tight race, and this time 'Die Another Day' is booted out while the title track lives to stay (another day). From it's intense opening, to the warped vocals to the Sigmund Freud-penned lyrics, the track fits perfectly on the album - it's all about self-analysis and self-perception much like the rest of the album. From the film of the same name, the song became a commercial success (unlike much else from the album) but it's not widely regarded as a Bond classic or a Madge classic. Still it's fairly underrated I find and a brilliantly trippy experience. Suspend your senses and let it in ~

Nothing Fails for me ~

Shock! :o Tbf I actually went through a spell of not actually liking 'Nothing Fails' as much as I did, largely down to the choir which I realised got too loud, but the song is firmly back in my good books and I cannot deny that divine instrumental.

I very much agree that 'Die Another Day fits with the album, both in sound and theme. I never really understood why people thought it seemed like it was just tagged onto the album and felt out of place. Mind you, I always felt 'American Pie' fitted in well on Music.

Not a shock! It's probably my third favourite on the album behind the other 2  It had a time as my FAVOURITE on there but the other two have over-taken now.

Ah, I initially thought you voting 'Nothing Fails' was because you didn't really like it rather than an indication as to how much you like 'American Life'.

Lucky you having your personal Top 3 as the actual Top 3!

That's true, I don't remember any of the songs being performed outside of the Reinvention Tour aside from 'Intervention' on the one off Tears of a Clown gig she did last year. I don't really understand why she'd not be a fan of the album unless she just remembers the reception at the time and decided the concept and message just didn't work, but surely she's aware that the album is a fan fave today? Plus most of the songs can be performed acoustically and work, which seems to be something she is increasingly more interested in.
'Die Another Day' & 'Hollywood', the best 2 tracks on the album and they're both out, such a shame, but at least 'Nothing Fails' is still in. Anyway going for the terrible title track again.
American Life again for me, although could just have easily voted for Nothing Fails too.
hollywood is one of the best songs of all-time nvr mind 5th on an album!!! and die another day too waaaah

This.

I QUIT.

I genuinely have NO idea which was this is going to go in the final :o (given this round is a pretty much cert). We usually have some inkling as to what might snatch it, but this one looks very tight... Exciting ~

I'll put the final up TOMORROW ;o

'Intervention' seems to have been the keen favourite throughout, but 'Nothing Fails' has always struck me as the vocal fan favourite beforehand and I think its fans could come out of the woodwork for the final! I'd be happy with either winning, but 'Intervention' means something really special after the Tears of a Clown performance.
