For an act as big as they are, the production seems a bit basic, even more so than the Get Weird Tour, the setlist is their shorest arena setlist so far too;

Power

Black Magic

Private Show

Move

F.U

----

No More Sad Songs

Your Love

Secret Love Song, Pt. II

Nothing Else Matters (short version)

Wings

-----

Salute

Down & Dirty / DNA Mash Up

Chrous of Freak with dancebreak

Hair

Touch (With elements of Reggaeton Lento)

-------

Shout Out to My Ex

We will probably get single 19 added in a couple of weeks, but other than that it's odd for them to get rid of the already rehearsed You Gotta Not, Nobody Like You and odd that Oops is snubbed again. There was room to include singles Love Me Like You and How Ya Doin too.

I'm hoping the basic production is to do with the fact they performed in Aberdeen Arena which isn't very big and not built for music, and there will be some surprises when they move to bigger arenas (even some extra songs other than the new single).

Rather disappointed with the set list, particularly gutted that they're snubbing Love Me Like You. :(

Yeah, the tour is very plain. I'm kind of shocked, I know they mentioned they wanted it "minimalist" like Beyonce, but hers was still spectacular, they just have one big screen and floating ramp for a couple of songs. No catwalk or B stage, no set changes like the amazing forest section last year...?

And I can't get my head around why the setlist is 25 minutes shorter than their previous two arena tours despite now having more material. They performed You Gotta Not and Nobody like you all Summer so why not include those?

I'd have added this section and seprated Touch and RL:

Agreed!!

With all the other comments and reviews I've seen, I feel that for the first time; it feels a bit lazy, like a run of the mill effort from them - something that I cant say I've ever said about them before.

I think it just shows that they need a break and have been working too hard. They've done so much touring this year. The sooner the break comes, the better tbh. Just for their own health in all honesty.
They’re going to end up like One Directoon, overworked, exhausted and not wanting to do anything anymore. I fee they should maybe have not bothered with the summer tour

I just find it odd that the Salute tour from 4 years ago almost, was longer and had a more impressive set design than this?

I really expected the Glory Days tour to have production up there with Katy Perry, given how huge the era has been. Even The Vamps had a bigger and more exciting stage design and they're nowhere near as successful.

I doubt that would have anything to do it, I saw them in Aberdeen for the Get Weird tour, and it really worked with the exact same production as in bigger arenas (obviously with a far smaller crowd though).

I am a bit disappointed with the setlist, they could have had a few more songs in there. Still excited to see them though!

So tempted to nab last minute tickets to see them at the Hydro!

Having seen it now, it feels very much like a "section" has been cut last minute. When we got to "Shout Out..." people were like.... "is this it?"

The show draws so many comparisons between Spice Girls "Return of" (opening montage) and Girls Aloud's tours with their air catwalks. They also do a Girls Aloud and sing one of their best songs on the b stage/catwalk.

I know a couple of casual fans who live local to me, one who was at the same date and they said that they missed hearing/seeing "You Gotta Not" "Beep Beep" and "Love me Like You." Take from that what you like.

Also, are there any rumours floating around online about the new songs being added to the setlist? An "Ella" (see PJ) told my mum that they were rehearsing to add those but I haven't seen that info from anyone I know who is "more" in the know than a teenage Ella.

Aren’t Ellas the nickname for he 5 year old at their gigs that ruin the atmosphere? Come through with the info Ella, although I can’t see it being true.

That's what I thought!

I was under the impression it was someone who was teenager aged or below who ruins the atmosphere.... wasn't aware it was a specifically younger child. But yeah, that's what she told my mum anyway. How she would know that is anyone's guess. I find it just as unlikely to be honest.

I did have slight reservations about the production and setlist, but I guess it was good going in with lower expectations...

It’s awkward bringing Beyoncé into any comparison because it’s impossible to compare anyone to such and untouchable icon and the Formation tour is the best live spectacle I’ve ever been present for. But it’s still also hard not to see the influence here especially given they previously mentioned taking inspiration from the layout.

But even though I’ve said how I love stage gimmicks, they really have now reached a level where they can wash away most of the silly props, because their performance power is advanced and polished enough to command even an empty stage if they wanted to (Something no other UK girl group could have said). I don’t know if they were just extra on the money last night because they were being filmed for the DVD, but the section that included Salute/DNA/Down & Dirty/Freak was breathtaking and some of the best live choreo I’ve ever witnessed - not just in how they executed it but the arrangements too. The production value worked well alongside and the aesthetic they were clearly aiming to achieve came across as slick, expensive and effortless. The whole show was more mature than their last tour, including the interludes - the visuals that opened ‘Salute’ in particular were a moment, and even though I don’t go back to ‘Salute’ too often as a song, they must never, ever take that off their setlist, it’s made to be performed in arenas.

Even F.U, which I think is a pretty shit song, was great to listen to because their live vocals and harmonies sounded so tight. The only lull really was when they were performing on the B stage because I could only see the back of the side of Perries hair thanks to them being at the other side of the arena and it was generally a section of not so exciting songs. But what I will say is that I admire that they still, at every single show, dedicate ‘Secret Love Song’ to their LGBT fans, it’s not something many mainstream popstars do with such commitment, especially ones with younger-leaning audiences and it’s not certainly something the girl groups or popstars I grew up with would have done. So it means a lot to me that the younger queer audiences get that recognition. (plus the runway stage lighting up in rainbow colours looked really cute).

All in all, a really great show. Not that I should have needed reminding but they’re all hugely talented and remain superstars. Especially Jesy Nelson who is a living legend.

I'm glad you enjoyed the show, Joe! Just over 3 weeks to go for my date (which will be my first time seeing them *.* ).

I didn't realise they actually go as far as to dedicate SLS to LGBT fans, that's a great thing for them to do. (It'll always be annoying that the music video was stripped of its original concept, that really could have been a moment for them :drama: ).
