Yeah, country is a fun spin off, so are things like Scandi-pop and Rock (if they ever happen). I feel BJSC is very generous to dance in terms of Spin-offs so it is refreshing to have a change.

I would love a rock anthems spin-off as I think all the indie/alt stuff seems to be more suited to Unknown Pleasures/Nuggets

I don't mind the odd Genre spin-off once in a while, it's nice exploring specific genres and particularly ones I'm not that familiar with, but they shouldn't take priority over themed spin-offs, It's wayyy more interesting when it's a variety of entries from different genres with a lot of people taking part with differing tastes, genres wouldn't always allow for that to happen. I don't think there should be any 2.0 spin offs frankly, except if it's popular enough to justify it, like Worldvision was.

 

anyway, I voted in this last night. Not a whole lot I'll be coming back to, but some gems in there from some countries I very rarely point ordinarily! (Why did I not enter The Charlie Daniels Band 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' to this, would've been a good time of year as well).

Voted. Country was one of the first genres I got into as a kid, then sort of moved away from it largely, but I ended up enjoying this spin-off more than I was expecting to! I'm glad it's happening!

Also I'm not saying that we should always have genre spin offs, I just like that there is a spin off for a genre I love that is sorely under represented in the main contest. If you don't like the odd genre spin offs that rarely appear you don't have to enter every one. I think the spin offs do a good job at procuring a range of stuff you wouldn't necessarily see in a main contest, that's what I want from

For someone who's not in this spin off you seem very interested in it :drama: Fortunately the whole of BJSC doesn't revolve around your fetish for 90s dance. It's really disheartening as a host to come into this thread and see you moaning that it exists, when you aren't in it there is the very viable option of just ignoring it rather than being rude because it doesn't have many participants as your hypothetical dance spin-off... At the end of the day it's something different which is what I want from a spin-off as I said.

If anyone is up for it, I can host a listen through today? I'm home early from school and don't have any assignments to do, so I have loads of free time to do it (especially since it'll be shorter). And then that way, Liam doesn't have to worry about doing it~

Oh Liam chill lol, my intentions were not to disheart any of participants/host for taking part in this one...I've been enjoying BJSC almost a decade now and the only reason why I haven't participate in this one is because I felt I won't be 100% dedicated to it and just last month I felt exhausted with regular contest, nuggets and instrumental.
