Didn't "New Americana" and "Pedestrian at Best" both come top 10 in BJSC?

Didn't "New Americana" and "Pedestrian at Best" both come top 10 in BJSC?

They did yes, i was talking about this with Iz yesterday and i'm personally not sure they should be allowed, but I don't know what the concrete rules are on BJSC hits

Basically what we're doing is that at the end of the nominations round, done this early so as to not inconvenience people by properly voting for something and then seeing it get vetoed, we'll look over the lists from all forums and veto out nominations that we know have proved themselves in other forum competitions several times (indicating that most of the forum knows them well) or are otherwise really well-known tracks on here. I think because it's dull more than anything else, I love Pedestrian At Best but I feel it has been used and slayed a lot in recent Buzzjack rankings and competitions.

The restrictions of top 40 and Eurovision top 10 was to get rid of most of these, we didn't say 'no BJSC songs' because it's not UP or anything like that and there have been many thousands of songs entered there over the years, many of which have been forgotten by the forum at large, but things like BJSC top 10 hits that have been talked about a lot, like those two examples are the sort of thing we'd probably stop getting in. This goes for all forums, btw (although in a way indie should be one of the more inspired forums). It's not meant to be restrictive, it'd be just to get rid of Buzzjack's biggest cult classics that have had numerous chances in competitions like this.

And of course if you're pretty sure a nomination of yours will get vetoed in this way, feel free to change it.

It's so hard to decide because there's so much but I'll try a few:

Against The Current - Runaway

Twenty One Pilots - Holding Onto You (if I can just reinforce songs already nominated)

Paramore - Brighter

Muse - Undisclosed Desires

Kasabian - Take Aim

Righto, I have a feeling my well known old songs will get vetoed so please change my noms to:

King Creosote - Wake Up To This

Teleman - Dusseldorf

Cabbage - Kevin

Chris Cohen - In a Fable

The Pictish Trail - Far Gone (Don't Leave)

I'll try a few:

Foals - Inhaler

Radiohead - Everything In Its Right Place

Joy Division - Transmission

Pixies - Where Is My Mind

David Bowie - Suffragette City

System Of A Down - B.Y.O.B

Against The Current - Running With The Wild Things

Arcade Fire - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

Muse - Undisclosed Desires

Within Temptation - And We Run (feat. Xzibit)

mostly reinforcing some excellent shouts to help sort out these nominations, but got a couple of new ones to fill my quotas.

Oh three for Muse! Well if you don't mind Sam I'll change my nom of that to... Animal Collective's FloriDada, give that the nod to get in.

Within Temptation feat. Xzibit - And We Run

Lana Del Rey - National Anthem

Nightwish - Nemo

I think I'm gonna change my Paramore nom to Brighter and my PVRIS one to Mirrors as I do adore both of those songs and they'd have been my next choice, plus it gives them a second vote

Throwing in three nominations just now, will think of two others soon:

David Bowie - Blackstar - if you're looking for a standout moment, this song is it!!

Animal Collective - FloriDada - if we get some psychedelic in our final 4 (and i hope we do :(), something as poppy and fun as this wouldn't be a bad option i think :music:

Sufjan Stevens - Fourth Of July - purely a pipe dream but i just wanted to get in some folk/singer-songwriter nominations! very understated but stunningly emotional, i urge anyone to at least check it out

My two final noms:

Fleet Foxes - Mykonos

Fuck Buttons - Surf Solar
