November 9, 20169 yr But the Xmas #1 album is usually won by someone who appeals to a very wide, generally MOR, demographic - e.g. Adele, Michael Buble, Take That, Robbie. Plus a large proportion of Xmas album sales are by people buying albums for someone else, rather than fans of an artist buying an album for themselves. Yes but I agree with SKOB it is a little more unpredictable this year than recent years. I guess there is a hope (from record companies) that Emeli Sande or Bruno Mars can get big Sales in the run-up to Xmas but it is still a bit of an unknown at the moment whether these Albums will be big enough to sustain a multi-week residency at the top. The thing is none of the established album acts (Robbie, Buble, Emeli Sande) have had any big singles to push the album. The only contender to have a big single is Little Mix which I think pushes them into contention. I think the album contest is very wide-open and will come down to which acts perform on the X Factor Final to get that final push.
November 9, 20169 yr Robbie has a concert airing on ITV on December 5th! He played londons troxy and received the Brits icon award Monday night and it's been filmed for that date. That'll stick him in the mix for xmas no1 album! He's also playing the BBC music awards on December 12th too ...... Edited November 9, 20169 yr by blakesta

November 9, 20169 yr Pink Floyd coming for that 475th week in the Top 100. Remarkably there are 5 other Albums in the Top 100 this week with more weeks (Meatloaf 519, Fleetwood Mac 654, Bob Marley 745, Queen 747, Abba 759), it's a Chart within a Chart 😀 Edited November 9, 20169 yr by timjimlee
