Omg that was everywhere at the time! Still a fan

I think it is the orchestralness of it and the talk about rain that reminds me of Cloudbusting! The Journey Continues does sound a bit Kate Bush-y too!

Annoyingly they've changed the version of it on Spotify, now it begins with the chorus and cuts out the middle 8 strings solo (which is like the best part of the song)

This release has been a right mess, why couldn't they have just stuck with Kate's vocals originally.

Kate wouldn't let them use her vocal.

Well they cut out the best bit anyway imo on the Cloudbusting one, the original drop on Everytime It Rains.

I thought there was something different about it when I heard it this morning, more beats to the intro as wel instead of just strings

I feel like this is going to be a common occurrence of future songs aka the chorus starting the song. It's a tactic to attract more streams as people will go 'oo I like this song' rather than potentially going 'wtf is this, I don't know it' and skipping. Its like the tactic that commercial radio stations often use and I think Charli XCX's 'After the Afterparty' is really guilty of it, there's even that sound effect as if its going back to the original song, like what radio starions often use.

I hope that doesn't become the new norm, I don't want to feel like I'm listening to commercial radio and I've never been a fan of choruses being cheaply tacked in at the start of the song.

Still doesn't explain why they screwed up the middle eight either, or why they re-recorded the vocal again (or is that Kate? I'm not sure)

I feel like that actually is Kate :o I should recognise if it's one of my all time faves remixed but I feel like it sounds a lot like her but not fully so perhaps it's a really good tribute act or something? Idk, there is one called Cloudbusting  I 100% prefer the new vocal but I agree the chorus being first is really jarring. Not just because it was like that in the first place, I'd get used to that, but it also meant the original was a bit closer to this and the string introduction and "I still dream of Organon" just works.
I usually dislike this sort of jumping on a popular song and just making it a little bit dancy as an easy way of achieving a hit (hello Jonas Blue's 'Fast Car'), but I actually quite like this! I think it helps that it basically emphasises the original components and gives them a 2017 HD experience and the vocal is as close to being Kate Bush's without actually being hers. There's no horrid breakdown or anything like that, it's as if Clean Bandit have done a cover of it.

I am confused, Radio 1 was playing a version yesterday with the original climax from Everytime It Rains (the one I liked with a different strings tune to the original) after the first chorus. Can't remember the whole song but I think they must have played Everytime It Rains by accident instead of Cloudbusting :o (great as it is a much better tune to Cloudbusting imo).

This is Everytime It Rains btw (minus the radio announcer of course). Carl Kennedy and Steven Lee are the members of Just Us. The climax with the different strings tune I am referring to is at 1:12.

I don't think it's a mistake, I also heard the other day Nick Grimshaw play the bootleg version of 'Cloudbusting'. Suppose they're allowed to play it on radio but don't have the rights to sell that version.

Radio 1 often play the original version of the track they started playing first or the one that had loads of hype when it was played by specialist shows.

If I recall correctly, they always played the bootleg version of Sigma's Nobody to Love and continued to play the original of Chris Malinchak's So Good To Me even though the vocals were changed for release.

Yes but those people that still download singles will download it on iTunes expecting it to be the same as the bootleg version :o

The bootleg one is so much better as a dance record than the Spotify version imo, so I would rather Radio 1 play that version anyway. I love the way it builds to a euphoric climax after the first chorus with strings which are different to the original!

Didn't Radio 1 also continue to play the original version of 'The Girl is Mine' even after the version with re-recorded Brandy vocals was released, too?

Yep, all the way until the song was falling down the chart when they conveniently changed it to the re-recorded version all of a sudden

My friend has scrobbled this 152 times this week, that's like 22 times a day :o
