16. Little Mix - Shout Out to My Ex / (1-1-1-1-1-1-5-8-8-12-16-...) 11 weeks (so far)

17. Lady Leshurr feat. Wiley - Where Are You Now? / (14-8-1-2-3-8-10-18-32-43-50-x) 11 weeks

18. Beyoncé - Hold Up / (1-2-5-6-6-9-12-19-28-34-35-42-47-x) 13 weeks

19. Major Lazer feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG - Light It Up / (20-13-15-16-17-21-23-14-11-3-7-11-12-13-14-20-21-27-31-38-49-x) 21 weeks

20. 99 Souls feat. Destiny's Child & Brandy - The Girl Is Mine / (24-21-29-37-34-34-31-34-17-5-8-4-11-19-25-33-43-48-x) 18 weeks

Shout Out to My Ex - #16 doesn't look great for a six week number #1 but really, it only got that many due to weak competition in the singles chart. Of course, I like it a lot but I actually found the chorus a little weak and I do think they have catchier and more personality filled tracks. It is very polished, catchy and the verses are still fun but not one of my favourites from them really.

Where Are You Now? - There was no way I was expecting this to be a personal chart #1 for me when I first heard it but it is irresistibly fun. The whole song is just bonkers and high energy but it is so catchy and even Wiley's guest verse is just amazing *-* Really looking forward to see what Lady Leshurr comes up with in 2017 :D

Hold Up - Already one of the most iconic tracks from Lemonade, Hold Up was an immediate highlight from the album for me so I was delighted when it was first announced as a single. It didn't have the longest chart run ever on my personal chart but still a solid hit and very catchy.

Light It Up - Light It Up had a really good run for me, managing an impressive 14 weeks in the top 20 despite just 2 weeks in the top 10. It's an example of a high energy dance track that just always gets you in the mood to have a good time, lots of fun!

The Girl Is Mine - This was obviously a banging tune from when I first heard it (and attempted to send it to BJSC lmao!!1) but it never truly hit me until it became a chart hit hence why it peaked so late in its chart run (12th week!!). It's the perfect blend of two iconic songs and the dance production really brings it all together, utter banger!!

Hey Josh, some outstanding stuff in this EOY but I'll stick to the absolute faves of mine:

Do It Right - HUGE tune and easily one of his best. Shame it never did anything but after +1 flopped I wasn't too surprised. Really like Tkay too from what I've heard of her to date

Say You Do - absolute banger :music: the longest-running #1 of all time on my Chart so no real need to expand on that :kink:

Too Good - this is brilliant & also #1 on my Chart this year. It's not quite Take Care but that's among both of their best ever songs so to even recreate something half as good as that was impressive

Stay - completely agreed that this is underrated. Could have been bigger but released right at the end of the campaign, tempted to put this as my second ever fave song of theirs behind Rudeboy

By Your Side - another #1 for me (yay for sharing this one!) and now comfortably my fave of his. LOVE Raye's vocals especially which is what sets this dance track apart

Don't Be So Shy - one of the best songs I've heard in the last few years (and it gave me a sizeable BJSC smash so extra points there), the huge smash that sadly crossed over here!

What If I Go - this was superb this one. Just grew & grew with each listen, a lot better than his newer one with A$AP Rocky

Look forward to the closing stages :D

Shout Out o My Ex is of course such a tune  One of the defining songs of the year.

Light It Up is a bti of a tune too, would've probably been just outside my top 100 but I always love hearing it out or getting ready to go out, it always gets me pumped!

Really sorry I haven't been able to comment on this much, I am all ears now though :P

Awesome to see Light It Up so high, I never really got fed up of that track! The longevity it had was very pleasing - I really hope the new Major Lazer track with PND and Nicki hits the spot like this did :D

Where Are You Now also took me by surprise, what I HAD seen of Lady Leshurr prior to this track was a bit offputting, her Queen's Speeches came across as a bit 'Yo fam meet me at Maccies'/Chav if you know what I mean :heehee: Where Are You Now was so much fun though, really unfortunate that didn't become much of a hit - I enjoyed the Wiley contributions as well.

Fab countdown so far, excited to see what's in your top 15!

hey Josh!

30-16 faves:

29. Imany - Don't Be So Shy (Filatov & Karas Remix) amazing eurosmash :dancing:

27. Kungs vs Cookin' on 3 Burners - This Girl massive choon, one that'll appear in the high end of my EOY

26. Mura Masa - What If I Go?

24. Zara Larsson - Lush Life love this too

23. Sia feat. Kendrick Lamar - The Greatest

21. DJ Snake feat. Bipolar Sunshine - Middle

20. 99 Souls feat. Destiny's Child & Brandy - The Girl Is Mine was great seeing this finally smashing it in the charts at the end of last year

19. Major Lazer feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG - Light It Up

Who Do You Think Of is the only thing I've liked from M.O, glad this became a hit.

Lush Life was a brilliant way to break through from Zara. I was loving this at the start of the year, it was my first new #1 of 2016.

The Greatest is Sia's best for me now. Elastic Heart is my 2nd favourite though. :D

Sexual is a good song but I tired of it quickly.

Middle is so much better than Let Me Love You. This is easily his best of the year.

The Girl Is Mine is brill. So glad this was so massive at the start of the year.

Where Are You Now  Lady Leshurr is one of my guilty pleasure acts. Loved everything I've heard from her since Queen's Speech 4.

Shout Out To My Ex is one of my faves of the year. I'm just not getting bored of it. This is the song that has put them back above Fifth Harmony as my top girl group.

Hey Josh :D

Light It Up and Shout Out to My Ex will both feature highly in my chart! Loved both of 2016's Major Lazer hits a lot, Cold Water was more obvious for me I guess due to Bieber, while Light It Up really did come out of nowhere, but what a tune!

The Girl Is Mine being so high is great to see too! :D

The Girl is Mine, great dance track from the start of the year

Light it Up is great as well, really hope Fuse ODG can get another hit!

Glad you're enjoying it and thanks for commenting Pete. Fuse ODG has had so many catchy tracks so I'm hoping he comes back with a bang soon too

Hi Dobbo! Glad you're enjoying it :D

DIR: I think it is his best now for me, that was reserved for Hello for years but it's been overtaken now

SYD - Wow, that is not a bad record to have at all. It is just a banger through and through :music:

TG - Take Care is definitely in a different league but this is really fantastic, glad Drake has had such a huge year!

Stay - I feel like if this was released earlier in the era, it could have been a big hit for them. Changing is still their best for me though

BYS - This just grew on me really unexpectedly, I love her vocals too, she sounds great on the Jax Jones track too imo!

DBSY - never realised you'd sent this to BJSC, deservedly a hit for you then because it is fantastic. I sent Imany too a while back but she DNQed lol :(

WIIG - I really like Lovesick too but yeah, this is definitely the better track of the two. Hope he can get a chart hit soon!

Thanks for commenting :D

Light It Up is a bti of a tune too, would've probably been just outside my top 100 but I always love hearing it out or getting ready to go out, it always gets me pumped!

Definitely one of highlights too but they've still had better pop tracks imo, loving them loads at the moment though

LIU is just a banger, I think a lot of people unexpectedly enjoyed it which was why it was such a huge chart hit :D

Thanks for commenting Liam :D

No problem mdh, you've joined me for the best bit :P

I loved how long it stuck around in the official charts too, the drop just always sounded so fresh. I'm beyond excited for the Nicki collab, think it's going to be amazing

I guess some of her tracks do sound a little chav but she has so much sass and fierceness, I properly love everything she's putting out at the moment. Wiley's verse really adds to the track too

Hi Dan

29. Yeah, but unfortunately just a eurosmash :( Wish that included the UK too!

20. Me too! Didn't think it was going to happen but ended up feeling like a huge track, glad it finally caught on

Thanks for commenting Dan!

Hi Lewis

WDYTO - Both this and their most recent single are phenomenal and a lot better than their other material, hope they're big in 2017!

LL is definitely her best track still but loved everything she's done so far really, so glad she's been huge in 2016.

That's my top 2 of hers too but the other way around, we must have good taste

I'm a little tired of Sexual too but I still think it's a great track, the final chorus is amazing

I wish Middle and Talk were bigger and LMLY wasn't his biggest track, it's nice but not that great!

Lady Leshurr is a guilty pleasure for me too atm, all her tracks are so cool. Hope she gets a breakthrough soon!

SOTME does just refuse to get old really but they've had catchier tracks imo. 5H have had a really stellar year too this year though

Thanks!!

Hi Joseph!

Cold Water just never really hit me, it didn't have that infectious drop like LIU or Lean On, I hope the Nicki collab is more like those!

Glad you approve and thanks for commenting ! :P

11. Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson - Tears / (18-3-1-2-4-7-8-9-10-10-14-14-20-27-26-33-41-x) 17 weeks

12. Bastille - Good Grief / (3-1-2-2-4-5-10-13-15-19-20-15-11-20-26-31-49-49-x) 18 weeks

13. Little Mix feat. Sean Paul - Hair / (15-7-6-2-3-3-1-1-3-6-15-23-37-46-50-x) 15 weeks

14. Beyoncé - Formation / (29-6-4-4-5-10-9-13-21-27-37-6-3-8-10-9-6-7-8-14-29-33-45-49-x) 24 weeks

15. Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign - Work From Home / (21-5-5-2-3-6-8-12-20-29-37-41-46-x) 13 weeks

Tears - So I'm probably one of the few people who actually prefer this to Rockabye but it is much more classic Clean Bandit with the strings breakdown and I think I prefer the vocals too as they are much more powerful and dramatic. The track had a really good run on my personal chart with a week at #1 too which Rockabye never managed so I think this will be staying my favourite Clean Bandit 2016 track. I'm not sure if I prefer Real Love to this though overall.

Good Grief - I was really hyped for Bastille's comeback and they didn't disappoint with this lead single. It is not as loud or catchy as the likes of Pompeii but the chorus especially massively grew on me and it ended up having a long run on my personal chart. Definitely up there with their best tracks to date for me

Hair - I always enjoyed Hair as an album track but I only ever properly fell in love with it when it was announced as a single and we got yet another incredibly fun video from them. Both the album version and Sean Paul version are just so catchy and fun but I think the album version is actually my favourite. I'm probably one of the few people that would rank this above SOTME as well

Formation - 2016 has pretty much been the year of Beyoncé and Formation has definitely been one of the largest parts of the Lemonade era. There's just something about the beat that makes you feel 1000x fiercer, especially when you time your steps in time with the beat

Work From Home - 5H have also had a stellar this year and two of their tracks have actually made my top 15 here. The first to drop out is Work From Home which is just so catchy and all the ad libs are fantastic. The video is also one of the highlights of the year for me

Hi Josh,

From the recent two sections I love

11. Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson - Tears / (18-3-1-2-4-7-8-9-10-10-14-14-20-27-26-33-41-x) 17 weeks I prefer Rockabye as that gets more pumped etc but this pretty great too!

12. Bastille - Good Grief / (3-1-2-2-4-5-10-13-15-19-20-15-11-20-26-31-49-49-x) 18 weeks

13. Little Mix feat. Sean Paul - Hair / (15-7-6-2-3-3-1-1-3-6-15-23-37-46-50-x) 15 weeks

14. Beyoncé - Formation / (29-6-4-4-5-10-9-13-21-27-37-6-3-8-10-9-6-7-8-14-29-33-45-49-x) 24 weeks Hot Sauce in her bag because Bey slays

15. Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign - Work From Home / (21-5-5-2-3-6-8-12-20-29-37-41-46-x) 13 weeks

16. Little Mix - Shout Out to My Ex / (1-1-1-1-1-1-5-8-8-12-16-...) 11 weeks (so far) I love this song

17. Lady Leshurr feat. Wiley - Where Are You Now? / (14-8-1-2-3-8-10-18-32-43-50-x) 11 weeks

18. Beyoncé - Hold Up / (1-2-5-6-6-9-12-19-28-34-35-42-47-x) 13 weeks

19. Major Lazer feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG - Light It Up / (20-13-15-16-17-21-23-14-11-3-7-11-12-13-14-20-21-27-31-38-49-x) 21 weeks :music:

20. 99 Souls feat. Destiny's Child & Brandy - The Girl Is Mine / (24-21-29-37-34-34-31-34-17-5-8-4-11-19-25-33-43-48-x) 18 weeks

Fantastic group there other than Formation (never liked that one sadly).

Tears, easily in my top 3 of theirs, LOVE the strings in that!

Good Grief was so much better than I thought it'd be from a Bastille comeback, sadly haven't liked anything else from them this era.

Hair was a really fun track, the Sean Paul inclusion was a good idea too, shame it just missed the top 10 officially (and here!)

And Work From Home is crazy catchy, I did tire of it initially but now it's not so overexposed I can enjoy it again.

Tears and Work from Home are both fantastic!! Didn't expect to love either as much as I did. Clean Bandit had their good moments but, Stronger aside, I didn't particularly love any of their previous singles, so Tears came out of nowhere and Louisa really shone. Work from Home is just such a great pop tune

Hair is great too, I wasn't fussed initially but Sean Paul helped improve it I think!

Hi Harry

11. They have had a great year for sure, hopefully we get the album not far into 2017, I'm itching for it!

14. She really has just slayed all competition this year really, I hope it's not a long wait for new material </3

Thanks for commenting :D

Hi Dobbo, 4/5 ain't half bad though! :P

Tears is in my top three of theirs too for sure, probably with Real Love and Rockabye or Stronger

Send Them Off! is a banger of a track too and they've picked a great third single too, I preferred the Bad Blood era though!

They got two EOY top 10 hits last year so Little Mix can't really complain with another two in the top 20 :P

WFH is a massive banger for sure, so glad it was such a huge hit for a girlband

Tears and Work from Home are both fantastic!! Didn't expect to love either as much as I did. Hi Joseph

I wasn't expecting such fantastic tracks from either artist either ! Yay at another fan of Stronger though, seems to be really underrated but it's one of my faves!!

Sean Paul does seem to be a bit of a hit maker at the moment, he's on everything but he is always a lot of fun so I usually don't mind

09. Coldplay - Hymn for the Weekend / (2-2-4-3-3-4-9-10-18-25-32-43-41-45-x) 14 weeks

10. ZAYN - Pillow Talk / (25-4-3-2-2-2-7-11-16-24-31-42-42-46-x) 14 weeks

So in this batch we have two non #1s dropping out meaning there is actually only one left to come! Hymn for the Weekend continued my surprise at how suddenly great Coldplay are after the also great, Adventure of a Lifetime. This track is really nice but I think my love for it is definitely increased by the pure greatness of Beyoncé who adds so much to the track despite such a little part and not even being credited, slay!! I've said before as well how I've been disappointed with the other two solo 1D tracks since Pillow Talk because this was such a strong start, a little different to the usual 1D sound, edgy and sexy and it completely works for Zayn and isn't just dull or plain like the other two tracks (though I am enjoying JHO a little but not this much). Unfortunately, the rest of the material from Zayn wasn't as good as this but it was certainly a promising start so hopefully his second era will have an equally killer lead single

The top 8 consists of (in alphabetical order):

Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj - Side to Side

Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For

The Chainsmokers feat. Daya - Don't Let Me Down

Fifth Harmony feat. Fetty Wap - All In My Head (Flex)

Martin Garrix feat. Bebe Rexha - In the Name of Love

Rihanna - Kiss It Better

Rihanna feat. Drake - Work

Shawn Mendes - Treat You Better

Any hopes or predictions?

Work From Home - I got hooked on this after my first listen. Easily one of the catchiest song of the year and one of the best videos of the year.

Hair - Again the video to this was brill. Sean Paul adding another classic verse too.

PILLOWTALK - Certainly the best ex-1D song get. Very cool tune

:puke2: at Hymn For The Weekend though. Possibly the most boring song of all time.

Work From Home and Formation were amongst my top urban hits of the year!

Pillowtalk not the best start to your top 10 oops, I liked Hymn for the Weekend though. One of Coldplay's best efforts of the last 5 years.

Hair, Formation and Work From Home from the set before the last

Top 10 WOOP. 'PILLOWTALK' (or however he stylises it) is so fantastic. I didn't want to like it I don't think but the intense production, his surprisingly good vocals in it and the darkness of it all kept bringing me back. I was at a house party and they had it BLASTING it out with the lights off and it was that moment that I properly got into it. So sultry and hot!

Hymn For The Weekend is decent but would rank fairly low on my list of Coldplay singles tbh  A nice enough tune though ~

Excited for the rest of this now ~~~

Hey Josh! :D

Great start to the top 10! PILLOWTALK is easily Zayn's best song so far for me, and Hymn for the Weekend is the only Coldplay song I actually like! Generally find them quite dull :(

Really like a lot of your top 8! Hoping Stitches can finish as high as possible
