November 29, 20168 yr Author Top 5 Videos of the year Honourable Mentions (In No order) The Weeknd - False Alarm CW5oGRx9CLM Tove Lo - Cool Girl XsFneCExrCQ Shawn Mendes - Treat You Better lY2yjAdbvdQ Kanye West - Fade IxGvm6btP1A Beyoncé - Formation wMea1UNtdI8 5. Zara Larrson - Ain't My Fault eC-F_VZ2T1c Why?: If I had to given a award for the most sassiest music video of 2016 the prize would instantly go to Swedish singer Zara Larrson who had another sassy video (Lush Life but decided not to include that as saw it before 2016). The video featurings sassy dancing, beautiful landscapes/interior shots and Zara looking utterly gorgeous what is more to love? 4. Kings Of Leon - Waste A Moment AmAaWCFlxEE Why?: Well stunning cinematography and great but odd narrative. Odd because it starts a group of teenage cheerleaders are siting in a tree when cops just drop down. Have that then later we see Caleb go up against a old man and a toy car shooting out one of the cheerleader's crotch region you can tell this would be a surreal video but it oddily works and is their most creative and inventive music videos for the song  http://22fps.com/wp-content/uploads/KINGS-OF-LEON-WASTE-A-MOMENT-7.gif 3. Sia - The Greatest GKSRyLdjsPA Why?: The second most powerful video of 2016. It starts of with Maddie (who Sia often collaborates letting 49 people out of a cage 'Free' signified. Later after a lot of incredible camera work and dance routines we see one final big dance sequence where at the end all of them drop down and zooms up to shoe Maddie crying. This video was in fact a homage to 2016 US Orlando night club shootings :(. With bullet holes in the background and the fact it was 49 people aka the number of people who died. 2. David Bowie - Lazurus y-JqH1M4Ya8 From one powerful piece to the next, Shortly before legendary singer David Bowie passed away the singer revealed this video where it was showing his battle with cancer and his fear of death. One of this more personal and artistic Music videos out their and one I feel like will stay in people's minds for a while. 1. Nick Jonas feat Tove Lo - Close XgJFqVvb2Ws Sometimes simple is the best thing. I feel that is what is this delightful video (In the best video sense the song is leagues ahead) is all about With clothing beaing ripped of both Tove and Nick you can tell it is quite a great video costume and visually wise. May be simple. But sometimes Simple works out brilliantly. http://66.media.tumblr.com/ce93d54d9feea03205269774e7a7543b/tumblr_o4th8gVriT1qkmxtno2_500.gif Edited November 29, 20168 yr by HarryEzra
November 29, 20168 yr Zara, David & Sia's are definitely amazing videos, Zara's is probably one of my favourite videos this year too actually, it helped the song grow on me so much. The last two are quite sad for obvious reasons, it shows just how incredible & brave David was for making a video confronting the reality of dying! I'll be keeping a watch out for the singles countdown, not sure what did well albums so hopefully some great stuff pops up there too! Edited November 29, 20168 yr by Rob S~

I'll be keeping a watch out for the singles countdown, not sure what did well albums so hopefully some great stuff pops up there too! I agree with what you said about Bowie's video thats why I think it is a masterpiece its about him confronting and acceptance of the reality of dying and its so powerful esp due to it being released shortly before he passed away  Sia too very powerful due to what it was about  I think their will be a few their you will like! Good #1 video there!! Also loving Zara, Sia and Shawn from that list :D All fab tbh :D
November 29, 20168 yr I find videos that help tell a story and accentuate the meaning of the song or give it a new life deserve the type of praise that they do get. Stuff like "Treat You Better" and domestic violence, "The Greatest" and the Pulse Nightclub shootings, and "Lazarus" and the idea of reincarnation are nice shouts.
November 29, 20168 yr Hi Harry, love the best videos idea! Formation is probably my favourite video of the ones you've mentioned, it feels iconic already and she looks utterly fierce throughout the whole thing. I loved the whole visual album that ended up accompanying it and the themes that run through it all. Close is a good pick for #1 though, I always forget how much I enjoy it but it is a very watchable video. Anything with Nick being unclothed is going to be a nice watch though  Looking forward to seeing your countdown!

I completely agree with you here Cody, video's that visualise a story that could be about the meaning of the song or could bring a new meaning to the song deserve all the praise and accalade they deserve they are the real artists in the music industry if you manage to make a deep meaninginful video to promote your song or cause then deserve everything. Yes the three you mentioned are a great example of this Lazarus is definitely an interesting choice! Interesting but good choice Hi Harry, love the best videos idea! Formation is such a iconic video not only that its costume design, cinematography and the choreography is flawless. I have not seen the visual side of the album apart from the videos she has put out their. 'Close;' is a very watchable video for the fact that that the routine and the fact that Nick Jonas's clothes are being removed :kink: Glad your looking foward to it!

Not only this but she has collaborated with Wretch 32, Stormzy and SG Lewis. Her slick RNB vocals has made waves already and she is only 2 songs and an EP into a career. She is nominated for the Sound of 2017 long list and MTV Brand New for 2017 long list. So she is currently gathering some hype around the UK. The highlights come Tove Lo collab 'Freak Of Nature', Lead Single 'Free' and 'Heartlines'. I would say the main reason for a number one to be this low I just didnt listen to it as much as I do to a lot of the others" Top 5 from the album 1. Free 2. Freak Of Nature feat. Tove Lo 3. Heartlines 4. Bedroom Door 5. Conscious 39. The 1975 - I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k150/Harry_Flynn/Cover%20sleeves/9a89a65b9094cb522d51a58c15a114ac.600x600x1_zpsiccrgthq.jpg Album Chart Run: I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It [4-7-10-10-9-12] (6 Weeks) Singles Chart History 2015: Love Me [31-24-20-30] (4 Weeks) [1] 2016: The Sound [38-31-21-17-7-10-11-14-19-25-35] (11 Weeks) [2] 2016: A Change Of Heart A Change Of Heart [17-13-10-14-19-25-36] (7 Weeks) [3] 2016: Somebody Else [32-27-21-19-34] (5 Weeks) [4] 2016: She's American [34]* (1 Week) [5] * = Still In Chart I Say: "After a amazing debut which I think is hard to top I was expecting a great second album, which it is but just not the same level of the debut. 'The Sound' and 'A Change of Heart' are my highlights from the album both so different. The Sound is a upbeat number that really reminds fans of the upbeat songs from the debut namely Chocolate and The Girls. A Change Of Heart is a more slowed down chilled out song which perfectly showcases their new sound. On the whole looking at the two of those songs you can tell what the album is gonna be like. It does feel like The 1975 have gone back in terms of sound quality instead of going forward which when the next album comes along I hope they find their feet this time and deliver" Top 5 From The Album 1. The Sound 2. A Change Of Heart 3. Somebody Else 4. Love Me 5. She's American 38. Biffy Clyro - Ellipsis http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k150/Harry_Flynn/Cover%20sleeves/ellipsis_zps4bo9iy9z.jpg Album Chart Run: Ellipsis [2-2-3-5-6-7-7-11-15] (9 Weeks) Singles Chart History 2016: Wolves of Winter [32-25-19-15-25-37] (6 Weeks) [1] 2016: Animal Style [26-21-15-10-16-25-31-39] (8 Weeks) [2] 2016: Howl [5-10-15-22-33] (5 Weeks) [3] I Say: "When I heard Biffy was coming back I was instantly happy they always deliver some amazing songs, they have done it again with this album. My favourite is 'Re-Arrange' which is Biffy Clyro doing a love ballad and on paper sounds different and shouldn't work but it does. Suits Simon's vocals well and all round the album is great. Not as great as the last two might I add. MON THE BIFF!" Top 5 From Album 1. Re-Arrange 2. Howl 3. Animal Style 4. Wolves Of Winter 5. Friends And Enemies 37. Billie Marten - Writings Of Blues And Yellows http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k150/Harry_Flynn/Cover%20sleeves/Billie-Marten-Writing-of-Blues-and-Yellows-Deluxe-2016_zpstvb5uenl.jpg Album Chart Run: Writing Of Blues And Yellows [2-6-10] (3 Weeks) Singles Chart History 2015: Bird [36-32] (2 Weeks) [1] 2016: Milk and Honey [35-38] (2 Weeks) [2] 2016: Lionhearted [34-30-37] (3 Weeks) [3] 2016: Live [33]* (1 Week) * = Still In Chart I Say: "Young Billie Marten has grabbed my attention for the past year or so even grabbing the top spot for my top picks for 2016 list. So I was very excited to hear a full album from her. It was very gorgeous and very chilled but if I am honest also felt as if it was kind of the same in many ways too". Top 5 From The Album 1. Bird 2. Out Of The Black 3. Milk And Honey 4. Lionhearted 5. Live 36. Tove Lo – Lady Wood http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k150/Harry_Flynn/Cover%20sleeves/Tove-Lo-Lady-Wood-2016-2480x2480_zpsyhfuxx7k.jpg Album Chart Run: Lady Wood [2-6-7-12-13] (5 Weeks)* Singles Chart History 2016: Cool Girl[3-2-3-4-9-13-15-20-23-32-35] (11 Weeks)* * = Still In Chart I Say:: "Queen Of The Clouds was amazing and a underrated gem of 2016 so Tove Lo had a lot to live up too. She came back with the total jam Cool Girl after a string of collabs from Flume, Nick Jonas and Years and Years. The album itself is a tad dissapointing especially after how amazing her debut was but does hold some gems including 'Influence' and 'Cool Girl'" Top 5 From The Album 1. Cool Girl 2. Influence feat. Wiz Khalifa 3. Don't Talk About It 4. True Disaster 5. Flashes Edited December 4, 20168 yr by Santa's Haz
December 4, 20168 yr The 1975's album was very hit and miss for me I must admit. I prefer their more commercial sounding stuff like The Sound, This Must Be My Dream and even Love Me which has grown on me a fair bit since its premiere actually! Still need to hear Lady Wood, must schedule a sosh for after Christmas when I finally own it
December 4, 20168 yr Hi Harry Haven't actually listened to any of these albums aside from the 1975's (although I didn't enjoy that loads) but enjoy all these artists' singles mainly. Absolutely loved L.A.F and Mother and Father from Broods this time two years ago but haven't heard a thing from them since then so never even realised they had an album. It's definitely something I think I would enjoy though. The 1975 just felt so long to me and had way too many interludes and in the end everything just felt like one big song. The singles on their own are all fantastic (aside from Love Me which is a bit terrible) though so still pleased with this era from them. Looking forward to the rest of the albums!
December 4, 20168 yr Broods are average, but the fantastic Wolves Of Winter makes Biffy Clyro a worthy top 40 finisher in itself, even if I find Radio 1's stanning of them SLIGHTLY excessive.

I do agree with you their commerical stuff is a lot more easier for not so big fans etc to get into which is why I do think a lot of their singles this year hasnt generated a lot of commercial succes but they are a more album artist I would say :o Defo up for a Lady Wood sosh tbh  Hi Harry Haven't actually listened to any of these albums aside from the 1975's (although I didn't enjoy that loads) but enjoy all these artists' singles mainly. You should hear it! It may be a underrated album in my eyes but those are the best  Fair enough regarding the album and The singles have been great this era (even if their singles last year are better oops) Broods are average, but the fantastic Wolves Of Winter makes Biffy Clyro a worthy top 40 finisher in itself, even if I find Radio 1's stanning of them SLIGHTLY excessive. Hi Mdh Radio 1 have always been stanning them excessively this era isn't any different tbf  Thanks for all the comments guys!
