Ooh 'Ride' is my favorite Twenty One Pilots song but I haven't listened to 'Lane Boy' so maybe I'll like that more too :o

I'm also very pleased to see Tame Impala so high!

Hiya Harry

As you say, Cruel really should've been a hit. In fact, most of the tracks of her most recent album were fantastic tracks and all deserved way more success than they received. I hope this isn't the last we here of her because she produces great lil pop tracks :wub

I actually prefer Let It Happen to Cause I'm a Man, the latter is nice but the former is far more exciting imo and it's quite a little bop. I prefer the epic 7 minute version of course too though :D

Hi Josh,

Yes Cruel really should have been a hit and I'm so mad it isn't and the other tracks were good too just she should have released Body Talk and Cruel :(

I much prefer Cause I'm A Man but both that and Let It Happen are excellent indie tracks

Secret Love Song is so beautiful, Cruel is great also

Hi Seltinpixmile,

Glad you like both of those and SLS is so beautiful!

ooh some goodies in the list so far, Harry, liking the range, Banks, Tame Impala, Alan Walker, Dua Lipa, Florence, Emeli, DNCE etc...

Hi John,

Glad you like the range and those songs :cheer:

Secret Love Song - One of the best choruses of the year I think. Really like this but it's been overshadowed by their other hits this year.

When The Bassline Drops - Easily Craig David's best since his comeback I think. Wish he released more like this.

Nothing Like This - This was decent but his whole album was too dancey and this was the start of that. :(

Hi Lewis,

It sadly has been a bit overshadowed due to SOTME but its so beautiful that it deserves recognition on its own!

I see what you mean by his album and When The Bassline Drops I dont mind his dancey sound though

Cool Girl, White Tiger and Faded are all brilliant tracks, good to see them in your latest batch

Hi MDH,

Glad you like all three of them!!

Ooh 'Ride' is my favorite Twenty One Pilots song but I haven't listened to 'Lane Boy' so maybe I'll like that more too :o

I'm also very pleased to see Tame Impala so high!

Hi Riser,

Listen to Lane Boy it will change your life :kink:

Yes for Tame Impala love

Thanks for all of the comments guys!! :D

21. Shawn Mendes – Mercy [[23-17-13-5-3-4-7-10] (8 Weeks)*

Laneboy: "YES my favourite twenty one pilots song this era. Its such a great fusion of rock and reggae again. You can tell when you hear their songs is how they are influenced by a lot of genres and artists thats one of my favourite things about them".

Trouble: "A dance song that samples Lil Wayne feat Charlie Puth was bound to good or either be terrible  Thankfully it was fantastic. I love the drop of this so good and different then the some other dance songs of the year. I still love jamming to this. Also warning dont listen to the aldi version on Charlie's deluxe version of his album its just a Offaiah rip off. Saying that from experience".

7 Years: "A relateable song about life and family Lukas Graham has managed to make a great indie pop song. I do not listen to this as much now but if it ever does come on the radio I sing along to the words still as I surprisingly know all of them still  P.S. Don't be fooled by the name....its actually a band not an artist :o"

Still Falling For You: "Ellie never fails at her movie songs so this is no difference I love the lyrics for this song 'This love got me rolling the dice dont let me loose' is a favourite. Its such a calming love song even when the big middle 8 comes it still is quite calming'.

Ain't My Fault: 'First out of three songs in my top 40 for the Swedish singer. Ain't My Fault is one of the most sassiest songs I have ever heard. Its so funny and I love how the song is like it Ain't my fault I find you so hot. I am so glad this went top 20 for her such a great sassy pop song ".

Blow Your Mind (MWAH): "The much better single released by Dua Lipa 'Blow Your Mind' is all out fun pop song and who doesn't sing a long to the chorus and the 'MWAH's'. I was hoping this would be a big hit for Dua and it did alright :( but should have done better for her (MWAH)".

This Is What You Come For: "This has to be the song where I dont get how people can hate it. Its such a fun dance song and Rihanna kills it. Calvin does it yet again and shows why he is the king of EDM music. Yeah sure its a little repetitive but so a lot of songs this year".

Say You Do: 'Sigala's third number one in my chart. Whilst this may be his worst number one single for me I mean I love Imaini's voccals their the highlight but I just wish the production was slightly better If I am honest".

Light It Up: "This has to be Major Lazer's best for me. The whole start song is fun start to finish with the highlight being Fuse ODG I mean I have to admit I didn't pay attention to the album version at all but the remix version is so fricking energetic and all round a bundle of fun. I bet even everyone can dance to this song'.

Mercy: "Shawn Mendes got his fourth consecutive top 10 hit with Mercy and the whole thing is really great and shawn's vocals shine so much on this track its unreal. I love the guitar production on the chorus that makes me love the song more as well as the vocals on the chorus MY GOD he slays me so much with his voice (and good looks :P)".

Another fab section there, my highlights come from Zara, Dua (mwah x), SHAWN MENDES, Lukas Graham, Ellie and Major Lazer, all in my EOY top 100 *.* plus MARIAH of course x

Omg I completely forgot for a second that MARIAH is sampled in Say You Do I was like :o where?

Glad you like all them though!

Hi Harry! From your top 50 so far:

Fantastic to see Tears in another countdown, the love for that knows no boundaries (and I personally think it's much better than Rockabye)

2 Craig David appearances *_* I must admit I prefer Bassline but the Blonde song is very good too, he's been smashing his dance collabs this year.

Say You Do  what a perfect song that is, actually my fave production so far, DJ Fresh's input made that so spectacular.

Great chart so far :)

Hi Harry

I think Lean On still has to be Major Lazer's best for me but LIU is not far behind now, the drop is just absolutely bangin' and the lyrics are irresistibly catchy  I'm so excited for their Nicki collab, I hope it has a similar style of drop

I agree with you that I don't get how you can dislike TIWYCF, it's just the ultimate party tune and Rihanna is the perfect fit for the track, she makes the video so much cooler too. I wish Calvin didn't follow this up with the dreadful 'Hype' though!

:D

Piece Of Me: "The great production provided by MK compliments well with the flawless vocals produced by Becky Hill. The two compliment each other well and much like her collabs with Matoma, Watermat and Oliver Heldens Becky Hill leads the track rather than the production does. I also love the lyrics and the theme behind the song it feels quite different for dance songs as I do love it when dance songs take a love concept in a relationship and make a dance song out if it. Rather than doing about partying etc"

Talk Me Down: "One of the most painfully haunting yet beautiful pop songs I have heard. The song is about wanting to be with someone but you cannot due to a breakup as in the lyrics he refers to wanting to be sleeping 'next to you' or coming 'home to you'. This song is just beautiful and I regret this having such a poor chart run because I love it one of my favourite ballads of the year by far. Troye made a fantastic album last year and this is just the best thing from it in my eyes, what a song ".

Girls Like: "'Tell JK that I'm still rolling, yeah tell Russell I'm a brand' is one of the best and most fun lyrics of the past year. This song screams fun to me and It has never gotten old. Singing along to Zara's vocals in the choruses and in the middle 8 is so fun. Oh but remember 'No Netflix and Chill that's dead' and 'I'm not a 8 or a 9 I'm a 10'".

Hands To Myself: "Selena Gomez has gone from being child star to sex symbol with this song. It oozes sexiness as Selena's timid vocals just are almost erotic throughout this song. Well even if the vocals were different the lyrics also bring out the inner seductiveness from Selena, Lyrically the song is about wanting someone so much you just cannot keep your hands to yourself. Which could imply stalking for all we know ".

Dancing On My Own: "Well here is a song that appears everyone hates for some odd reason . Do not get me wrong the original is far better of course. But having a stripped down emotive version is such a contrast to the big dance/pop song that Robyn made. His vocals are amazing on this song and you cna hear and understand the emotion in his voice. Ill always defend this song as it is beautiful and quite frankly not boring as people make out oops".

All Night: "Crystal Fighters returned to form with this song such a great upbeat indie banger that reminds me a bit of tame production wise slightly but vocally it reminds me of say Circa Waves. Just pure upbeat summer indiness that I would have LOVED for this to be a UK hit. If You have not heard I recommend you hear it now as I cant tell you enough how good it is".

I Took A Pill In Ibiza [seeB Remix]: "Another song that got way more hate than it should have this year. Mike Posner is someone I have always been a fan of in more ways than one :kink: The original is pretty good and very chilled due to his acoustics but this remix brings so much life into it. Great to hear on night outs etc and just is so feel good. Also yes for Mike not being a ONE HIT WONDER ANYMORE :cheer:".

We Don't Talk Anymore: The ultimate break up duet of the year. Ever since I heard it on Charlie's album I just knew this had to be a single and boy was I thrilled it was made a single. Both Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez really worked well on this track as they gel so much during this track. It almost feels as if this was a real life experience for them due to how much into it they sound. Clearly they are not though which is good as it makes what the lyrics are even more powerful and less cringe which is what it would have been had they been together as a couple".

Hymn For The Weekend: "Chris Martin works brillantly on this track with his trademark voice guiding the track not only this Queen B provides the female background vocals on this song and then a match made in heaven was formed. A proper standout from the album and I am sure when deciding the second single they could not ignore this song as it screams single to badly".

Close: "Another great Male and Female duet now and boy this is steamy as the song is about wanting to be close or close enough ;). Tove Lo actually works better for me on this song than Nick does I mean I love Nick on it but for me Tove Lo has made me love this song so much as her voice capitulates the song and takes it to another level. I feel like if Nick Jonas made this song a solo song it would not impact me as much . Thank god its a duet with Tove as I could not imagine it any other way as it is perfect. I also wish I had a bigger chart run for this but it could three weeks at number one so it did slay my charts. P.S. wow at that video "

Also Pete just want to say I am glad you like The Amazons

TALK ME DOWN is of course stunning

We Don't Talk Anymore is fantastic, was great to see it finally become a hit! Their voices work really well together.

Yay for Girls Like and Hands to Myself too *.*

Hi DalekTurrent,

Glad you like all them artists I predict big things for!

Glad you like all them especially Hymn For The Weekend

Thanks for the comments you two!

Hi Haz

One of the main things I love about Tinie Tempah are his lyrics, they're always loads of fun which means you always enjoy listening to them I guess. The track did get a little old for me because I got a bit bored of the chorus but still a tune, just not up there with the likes of Not Letting Go/Frisky/Written in the Stars for me

I had never heard of Crystal Fighters before but I really enjoyed All Night, pure fun and had a really good melody too. I like Good Girls a fair bit too but it feels a bit more tuneless(?) so I'm finding it a bit hard to properly get into it. Will give their album a listen though for sure!

:D
