Posted December 21, 20168 yr Nice to have a separate topic to chat what likely contenders will reach the #1 spot in the new year. I think Rag'N'Bone Man will have the first #1 of 2017 he will also have the Brit effect, since he won the Critics Award, leading up to the nominations (January), he could be in for a long haul. The Brits is also showcased in February, with a pre show towards the end of January. I do like the Little Mix single Touch could also get a week or 2 in between. I'm not feeling the new track to 50 Shades Darker, I reckon that will miss, there is nothing to hook you in like Love Me Like You Do.
December 21, 20168 yr I think it's going to be Human for probably 5 Weeks or Little Mix could nab a week or two... then I think if Ed Sheeran releases his new single that'll get it in February! I'll just put it below 23rd December Rockabye 30th December Rockabye 6th Jan Human or Rockabye or Touch those will dominate a few weeks in Jan. February/late Jan Ed Sheeran if he releases.
December 21, 20168 yr Could Zara Larsson do it? Hmm i guess it's not impossible. I personally can't see her going to #1. She will match Lush Life ' s peak though or get to 2. Edited December 21, 20168 yr by XMAS Rob S~
December 21, 20168 yr Hmm i guess it's not impossible. I personally can't see her going to #1. She could match Lush Life ' s peak though or get to 2. She's on 5 on iTunes and rising quickly on spotify, up to 7 already. B list on radio 1. I hope she can get her first uk no 1
December 21, 20168 yr As others have pointed out the chart on 6 January 2017 will be the first to see the streaming ratio changed so Clean Bandit will definitely fall from #1; at this moment I would expect Rag'n'Bone Man to be in the most favourable position (#1 on iTunes, Critics Choice Award promo) - if the marketing team were smart they would drop the price to 59p for a week too. However it would be foolish to rule out Little Mix entirely, and also Zara Larsson!
December 21, 20168 yr I really think it'll be Little Mix as they have more momentum and better streaming (even with the ratio drop set in the new year, a streaming advantage is essential). I guess if Rag'n'Bone Man was put at 59p he'd be a very strong contender though, but I think it'll be another 'Dancing On My Own' situation where he does amazingly well on sales but not so stellar streaming which will deny him the #1.
December 21, 20168 yr I really hope its going to be Little Mix - would be great to see them nab two number 1s from one album, especially in this era! Zara Larsson would go down a treat too but I dont think it's very likely
December 21, 20168 yr If Major Lazer are releasing on Jan 6th, they could be in with a chance, although without having Bieber's name on it this time it's much less likely, and it depends how good the song actually is.
December 21, 20168 yr Don't forget that Honey G's single is out on Friday folks! Could be No.1 for weeks.
December 21, 20168 yr Don't forget that Honey G's single is out on Friday folks! Could be No.1 for weeks. She's no Chico
December 21, 20168 yr Don't forget that Honey G's single is out on Friday folks! Could be No.1 for weeks. She'll be lucky to make the top 75 I think.
December 21, 20168 yr It probably has a very good chance of peaking at #1 but I don't think it'll debut at #1.
December 21, 20168 yr I think the Bieber effect pushed 'Cold Water' to number 1 rather than Major Lazer. Hardly one of the standouts of the year yet a big number 1. Nicki isn't half as big.
