Is it 'cool' to like Twenty One Pilots or something? I just don't understand how they got so big without a massive hit

Umm Stressed Out was massive WW. Maybe not chart-wise in the UK, but still a huge hit (700k+).

Also, Heathens was a big hit too.

Obviously the market has changed dramatically in the past few years but I never thought I'd see the day when in the year end chart a #12 peaking record could outsell a record that has been number 1 for 7 weeks.

well they've had a HUGE fanbase for a few years now - the Clique was massive before Stressed Out got big.

Biography

Featuring Christian Karlsson of Miike Snow and Linus Eklöw from Style of Eye, Galantis are a Swedish superduo who represent the place where EDM and pop meet. Karlsson (the man behind hits like Britney Spears' "Toxic") met Eklöw (the man behind hits like Icona Pop's "I Love It") at the Robotberget studio in Stockholm. Their mutual admiration society turned into a project once they began discussing a more poignant style of EDM that retained pop's passion. The duo set up shop on the Stockholm archipelago in the Baltic Sea, began recording, and released the "Smile" single on the Atlantic label in late 2013. The hit single "Runaway (U & I)" followed in 2014, while their debut effort, Pharmacy, landed a year later. The album featured two new singles, "Gold Dust" and "Peanut Butter Jelly." - iTunes

Ahh ok, I just wondered as they've just seemed to have got so many fans in little time.

Biography

London-based electronic dance producer Jonas Blue caught the attention of the industry with his reimagining of Tracy Chapman's 1988 hit "Fast Car." Adding a tropical house tint to the plaintive, bittersweet acoustic original, Blue enlisted the talents of young British singer Dakota, whose sultry vocals helped carry the song to the top of 17 international charts, including number one slots in Australia, Scotland, and both the U.K. and U.S. dance charts. In June 2016, Blue released the follow-up to his global smash, "Perfect Strangers," which featured JP Cooper on vocals. - iTunes
