May 2, 20178 yr Yeah his days have got to be numbered. There is no way he keeps his seat for next year and without Manor I can't see a pay drive slot for him either. The Renault should be competitive enough next year not to have an issue attracting talent so they will be able to jettison the driftwood. Even if they don't sign nando they've got a driver development programme It would be a daft idea if you had points from 1st-20th for every finisher. Would it though? Think how much difference it could make to the likes of sauber in the WC. If there was an element of prize money that was linked to points (up to a cap) them clinging on to finish 13/14 in a 14 car race could start to really add up and make a huge difference financially
May 2, 20178 yr ia, it could make it a little more exciting at the back end of the field if there's an incentive to cling onto a certain position. plus i really don't see the harm in so many points being divvied out..
May 3, 20178 yr Author If there was an element of prize money to be added if this were going to happen then I'll be swayed. It would definitely help teams like Sauber shame this didn't happen when Caterham, Manor were on the grid.
May 9, 20178 yr Author Baku was a letdown last year. Promised quite a bit and was hyped up but delivered very little.
May 9, 20178 yr Author The support races were more dramatic than the actual F1 race from Baku if I remember correctly. Hopefully this year's will be more interesting to watch.
May 10, 20178 yr Author Would be good going into Spain that Red Bull has closed the gap to Mercedes/ Ferrari. There is no reason why Bottas can't make an challenge for the world title this year. I wonder what price he is for the world title.
May 10, 20178 yr Just caught up with this season, great to see Bottas win his first GP but dear lord, what a dull race that was. Aside from the first lap, was there a single overtake? It did get a little tense towards the end I guess, but Sebastian was never gonna overtake. Jolyon's a bit rubbish isn't he? I'm really gunning for him to do well because I want there to be a Brit that I like on and off track (he seems like a nice enough bloke, unlike Lewis), but he's just dreadful. Hopefully he'll improve with experience, if he gets a chance. Edited May 10, 20178 yr by Juranamo
May 10, 20178 yr Author Only a couple where I may have blinked in regards to overtake. Russia was very dull. Palmer really needs to up his game, he just seems to struggle under pressure. He needs to at least match Hulkenberg on pace which is very unlikely.
May 10, 20178 yr ia about palmer. do we think he will actually be brought back next year? his potential is high however his results so far this year have been dire. I would love to see him improve cos like juranamo it's finally a recent brit after button that I can actually warm to... really looking forward to the Spanish Grand Prix tho, one of my favs.
May 11, 20178 yr Author If he improves vastly, it could be brought back next year or move teams, where I'm not sure. We'll only have one Brit in the grid if Palmer was dropped. He really needs to start getting some results.
May 11, 20178 yr No way he keeps a Renault seat next year. They and he both know that already. His results are shite but they didn't have a good enough car to attract the calibre of people they wanted so settled. Let's not forget he only got his contract because Haas signed KMag. They offered that seat to 90% of the grid then settled for Palmer because they couldn't be f***ed with a rookie and I don't think they or anyone else expected them to have made such a leap over winter. He's 100% not staying at Renault next year. I'm praying for Alonso or Sainz personally.
May 11, 20178 yr Author I don't want Renault to keep Palmer for next year because of his results, personally he should have been dropped last year. Renault should given a rookie a chance like the Russian test driver what about Sirotkin? Give him a chance and see what he can do.
May 11, 20178 yr To be honest I was happy myself when Palmer was retained, I think I said at the time a lot of drivers don't get quite enough time before they're axed and never seen from again, the Red Bull teams most guilty of this but he really has been poor this season. That pace difference to Hulkenberg isn't good reading. He was unlucky at Russia in the race being taken out at the first corner but he put himself in that position tbf with his screw up in quali. I'd like to see Sirotkin given a go at some point, his name's been bubbling around for a few years now, hope he's not the next Gary Paffett just missing out on a race seat again & again!
May 12, 20178 yr Nando got 3 corners into FP1 before the Honda disintegrated. Bless his soul he must be dying right now
