It's a low key politi-bop that still keeps to her sense of fun and tongue in cheek. It knocks.
I think Katy is the second female to go straight to A list on Radio 1.
Ok this is kind of fantastic? I don't even MIND Skip's bit either?? The production is so bubbly and infectious and I really like the message in the lyrics too. KP done good.
I quite like it! It sounds like the type of song that will do well on radios / the charts as well, so I'd be surprised if it flops.

I'm not loving it like the rest of you's are.

There is something too basic about the chorus which isn't grabbing me at all.

Ahhh! This is amazing. But I didn't expect much less in all honesty. Especially with those that are involved! Cannot wait to see the video for this!

The lyrics are great and it's definitely as Bal said her most important.

"Turn it up, it's your favorite song

Dance, dance, dance to the distortion"

This is so simple but effective, and feels really hearty given how hard she worked on campaigning for Hillary over the last year or so. It's clever though, because it works as a fluffy, fun song you can dance to, even if you're not paying attention of the lyrics.

It's just a very catchy pop bop. Katy always delivers with her lead singles.

It should hopefully be a #1 hit, radio will definitely eat this up!

I'm kinda in this camp too, I like it a lot still but it's almost a little boring? I get into it fully in the final moment or so but on first couple of listens, I'd rank it quite low in her singles discography. I feel like it's going to grow massively though, especially with a killer video!

Max Martin is sfg! Katy's quirks really add to it too (things like the 'so comfortable we live in a bubble, bubble" parts) it's such a subtle but powerful ear worm! I feel it's only going to grow too!

Katy Perry, Max Martin and Sia is such a killer combination. This is the definition of what a great pop song should be: taking an important topic/message and dressing it up in a feel-good, party-ready melody and lyrics that appear simple on the surface. It's what I love about Madonna's music (see 'Papa Don't Preach', for instance) and it's why I can't stand people turning their noses up at all pop music because they see it as less prestigious and don't think that the artists are invested in their music or whatever, when in fact no other genre could take a complex issue and make it so accessible and sell it to the largest possible audience. Usually, people think it's one or the other - if it's accessible and fun, it can't be meaningful; if it's tackling a complex issue, it must have a 'prestigious' sound like rock or indie.

I'm really liking Katy's comeback single after just a couple of listens. I agree it's probably more slow-burning than her previous leads, but I like that about it. Its chorus really gets stuck in your head and the disco-meets-reggae melody is just as infectious. Really looking forward to what the video will bring; I'm hoping for something typically eccentric but that's also quite playful and tinged with irony - something that gives a little more away of what the song is about, but nothing too obvious.

Really good on first listen  something different for her and it really works. Knew she wouldn't disappoint.
Why is everyone pop song nowadays compared to Sia, it gets really tiring to read  I mean she did write this but she can write a lot of styles, this feels more chilled led in the back garden in summer than the party Friday night vibes of Cheap Thrills anyway if we have to compare every vaguely tropical sounding song to that.
