13 1090 Shawn Mendes - Stitches

12 1090 Jonas Blue feat. JP Cooper - Perfect Strangers

What do these two have in common? Well they both achieved the same score :magic: (Tie broken by "Perfect Strangers" picking up positive scores from a greater number of voters)

In 13th we have "Stitches" by Canadian Vine sensation Shawn Mendes, which became the first brand new #1 of 2016 to start the year off on a high (it ended up being my second favourite #1 of the year, I'm still loving Stitches).

Just beating him is the second track from Jonas Blue, this one featuring the vocals of JP Cooper who's currently smashing with the fab "September Song". A vast improvement on "Fast Car", but Jonas has since gone on to top it with "By Your Side".

Stitches and Perfect Strangers should've been top 10. <_<
Stitches is waaaaaaay too low, it's easily my favourite #1 of the year, but I knew it wouldn't be too high :(

11 1210 Sigala feat. Imani & DJ Fresh - Say You Do

10 1240 Major Lazer feat. Justin Bieber & MØ - Cold Water

Missing the top 10 by a small margin is producer Sigala with the summery tune "Say You Do". Vocals are provided by Imani and the track samples "Always Be My Baby" by Mariah Carey. I didn't pay much attention to this song at the time and think I prefer "Easy Love", but it's pretty nice and better than "Sweet Lovin'".

Kicking off the top 10 is "Cold Water", a collaboration between American trio Major Lazer, Danish singer MØ and teen heartthrob Justin Bieber. The track went straight in at #1 upon release and was our SAVIOUR, being the one to end the reign of "One Dance". We praise Thee, Justin Bieber.

Ugh! One Dance is top 10 <_<

09 1500 ZAYN - Pillowtalk

08 1510 Calvin Harris feat. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For

Link: a song written by Taylor Swift, and someone who has recently done a vocal collaboration with her.

Here we have the first One Direction solo outing in the form of "Pillowtalk" by ZAYN, which debuted at #1 in both the UK and the US following all the hype, an impressive achievement considering the band didn't quite manage a US #1 single. A grower of a song. Shame that neither "Like I Would" or "Cruel" were nearly as big, the latter was the best thing I'd heard from him until "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" came about.

A fraction in front is Scottish DJ/producer Calvin Harris with "This Is What You Came For", another collaboration with pop starlet Rihanna. It's not quite "We Found Love" and I did find it initially underwhelming (as did quite a few I seem to think) considering the names involved, but it's another grower and in terms of Rihanna songs in this countdown, I VASTLY prefer it to "Work" which has yet to show up.

:)

great to see Calvin inside the top 10 anyway, :cheer: such a great song that should've been #1 but got unlucky to be released at One Dance's peak.

Hope 'Work' does well in this, it will never NOT be a tune.

07 1580 Little Mix - Shout Out To My Ex

06 1600 The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey - Closer

Time for what I consider a bit of a shock  As Buzzjack faves Little Mix drop out in 7th, beaten by the likes of Mike Posner and Drake (yes Jason, "One Dance" is top 5 :nocheer:). Did not enough stans / Kath aliases venture out of their artist forum to vote? The quartet debuted straight at #1 with the lead single from "Glory Days" despite missing out on two full days of sales and streaming, just to prove how massive they've become. Pure pop perfection.

The last song before reaching the top 5 is "Closer", my personal favourite #1 of last year, it's just so catchy and easy to sing along to and I love the vocal duet between Drew and Halsey. The Chainsmokers have come a long way since "#Selfie", managing to release another one of the best singles of 2016 in "Don't Let Me Down". Happy with how well this has performed here as it's quite polarising.

Oh God! I hope he doesn't win! :o

Also The Chainsmokers atrocity at number 6

R.I.P Buzzjack :smoke:

So who's still to come? Drake, Mike Posner, Rihanna/Drake and who are the other two?

What dreadful results on the whole though! Justin Bieber's songs should've switched around, Timberlake, Calvin/Rihanna, Little Mix and Sigala should've been much higher too... :drama:

So who's still to come? Drake, Mike Posner, Rihanna/Drake and who are the other two?

Clean Bandit feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie - Rockabye and Kungs vs. Cookin' on 3 Burners - This Girl :o
