Can this PLEASE be a thing?! It's been quite obvious since release he's preferred Castle On The Hill since the start - first hinting it on the chart show, now on the Graham Norton Show. I really hope Castle On The Hill does manage to overtake, provided it gets a big enough iTunes boost it COULD do enough, although my hopes aren't too high as of yet.

It won't but it's no surprise he prefers COTH as its more his sort of music - whereas SOY sounds like a song the record company pushed on him to gaurantee he sounds relevant in this chart era.

 

Don't think they will flip but it will keep him top 2 for another 2 weeks at least.

 

He also had the record cover and artwork as an exclusive on GN - looked nice!

That's what I'm kind of :/ about. It's great he's going to be top 2 by the looks for a while but when the album is released he'll get another big boost - and that could mean MORE time at #1 for Shape Of You (unless his prophecy becomes true and Castle On The Hill does reach the top). I like him but as a chart fan I'd by FAR prefer seeing something else at the top of the charts just for the sake of freshness and variation.

I think we just have to get use to the fact that we are in an era now when achieving a no1 single is a great achievement and songs spend a lot of time at the top.
