can anyone give me an idea of mine cos i want some sort of pretentious specificness like everyone else can do :'(

Pretentious messy excuses for songs

In the least pretentious way possible, I don't really know how to describe my sound? I guess I don't tend to go for simplicity, all in some way are ~deep and intense in some sense, usually through the instrumental. I guess experimental electro/indie is my preferred genre but honestly I'm open to pretty much anything I find, usually instrumentals get the preference though.

I'm not totally sure... I hope they're reasonably varied but generally I'd go for things that aren't all that cheerful but are perhaps quite floaty?

With the possible exception of Cerahtonia which clearly was someone else's cheery entry really that somehow got mixed up in the confirmation process but I couldn't be bothered to say.

chicken tikka soup for the buzzjack soul
I have no idea what mine is, it depends entirely on what mood I'm in and can vary wildly, but usually has roots in either pop or dance. Apart from when it doesn't

i would describe fljotavik as guardian best new band blogosphere over the last couple of years

GD is definitely multicultural eurovision kitsch injected delicately into commercial music with the odd tastemaker entry (real lies / tsier etc)

It's probably easier to categorise other countries' sounds rather than your own! I think you see the variety within each of your own entries much more than the majority of the rest of the posters would!

I'd probably go for 'anything that's not nondescript' but even then I'd say I broke my own rule with Mason Jennings last year! To be fair there are some countries who really do throw a mixed bag of anything out there for us to enjoy - #00274E, Trifoski and Singerpurear are the countries that come to mind where we could get absolutely anything off them!

i kinda wanna be the nation that does that but i'm addicted to either NO melody whatsoever, lots of noise or the melody being massive

I can sort of see that actually... I think they tend to have a sort of similar style or aesthetic to them, even if they're not all the same genre.

They're all oh so sensible too. I wish sometimes I could just find a real trashy pop gem to throw everyone off but I wouldn't even know where to start looking!

SAME!!!

lotti gave me one that ill need to throw out at some point when im in the mood if she never sends it herself

Do I spot some songsharing there?

Can be a bit all over the place but the closest thing to a coherent theme/sound I'd say is something along the lines of 'alternative urban / electronic'. Lots of entries with hip-hop/R&B elements although not many that are straightforward hip-hop or R&B songs, and lots of entries that are electronic but not necessarily 'dance'.

I guess I think kind of the same as dandy*, my entries have kind of the same 'aesthetic' most of the time even though they're of varying genres.

Perfection.

A bit of everything with a general overall rock theme, but really thinking about it even within that bracket I've varied quite a lot and I have gone outside of it too. I've entered (in order, using commas to separate entries) ska rock, electronic chill, folk rock/ indie acoustic, ska/ hip-hop, alternative rock, hard rock/ post-grunge, grunge rock and now emo rock. I plan to vary genres in future entries as well, not that I'll ever completely abandon rock - I suspect I'll always have a fair few rocky entries in a standard BJSC year but it's not the only genre I like so we'll see what happens.
