WHAT A YEAR.

I know a lot of people say it was underwhelming for music, and maybe it was chartwise, but there are so many gems to be found. I discovered M.O. this year and have been completely and UTTERLY obsessed with them - 'Who Do You Think Of?' gives me pure euphoria and instantly makes me feel good. I saw the girls at Pride this year and they really are so talented, I even met Frankee and I've just been in love with them ever since and it's heartbreaking to know, deep down inside that they will probably never make it big.

2016 also had some pure ANTHEMS that get me going crazy in the dancefloor - 'Touch', 'Work From Home', 'Into You' and 'Hotter Than Hell' being the main culprits. 2016 was also the year that JoJo had released an album - her first in TEN WHOLE YEARS. It did not disappoint at all and gave us the fake ass bitch anthem 'FAB' which really came through, I also saw her live TWICE this year in the space of one weekend and she is phenomenal. A song dedicated to her Father / fans, 'Music' had me in tears watching perform it live and she really is a star that deserves much more success than she is getting.

I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of Keke Palmer but when I heard 'Hands Free' I was HOOKED. If you love R&B jams then you have to check it out, it is full of earworms and won't get out of your head for days. Thankfully my local gay club ALWAYS plays it and has been a pure staple on a night out with it's ridiculous fun lyrics and vibe.

I have also discovered another true talent in Anne-Marie who's voice is absolutely phenomenal. I also saw her at Pride and I was almost in awe, 'Alarm' has been a song that has really wormed it's way into my affections after not initially being too keen. If you get a chance, listen to live performances of 'Peak' and 'Gentleman' and get prepared to be blown away at just how amazing she really is. I have a feeling her album will be something really special.

We also got an album from Meghan Trainor which gave us a much needed injection of FUN. I understand 'NO' and 'Me Too' aren't exactly everyone's cup of tea but I love how she doesn't give a f*** and releases songs full of hooks, silly lyrics and doesn't take herself too seriously (well I hope so anyway). Her album was one of my favourites of thuis year and both singles were staples for myself this year.

Another artist I hadn't previously been fussed on until this year is AlunaGeorge. Before, I thought their stuff was pretty uninteresting but 'I Remember' is full of out and out BANGERS. 'Mean What I Mean' is my favourite and should've been a hit - the rap in it contains my favourite lyric of 2016 in 'Macaroni Tony in the ditch, cause he slapped my ass and called me a bitch', iconic. It is the music they always should have been doing but has sadly failed. If you hadn't listened, I would recommend the singles as well as 'Hold Your Head High' and 'Jealous'.

The only other song I have a lot to say on, despite it not being that high as I am VERY late to the party is Troye Sivan's 'Heaven'. It is completely stunning and has the most perfect message that I am sure so many of us on here can relate to. It's full of hope and sorrow at the same time, and is heartbreaking to listen to. I have recently discovered his album and I am obsessed also. I don't know why I didn't give him a chance earlier on really.

I was going to do a proper countdown but I am way too busy, but I hope you comment anyway! Here's to 2016!

Flawless top 10, I haven't heard the Keke Palmer song though! I actually like them all apart from that one I haven't heard, it's especially great to see all the Ariana, double Clean Bandit (they've REALLY smashed it this year with those two bangers) and Little Mix slaying.

So much fab stuff here unsurprisingly! :wub: I like/love every single song in your top 50! No surprise to see WDYTO at #1 and it's so deserved to, such a great pop song and I'm glad it gave them a hit! :wub: My other big highlights are probably Starving/Don't Let Me Down/Into You/Work From Home/In My Blood/Be The One/SOTME/Alarm! All up there with the best of the year for me too :wub: Also loving Meghan making a couple of appearances, she really is so much fun as you said and so underrated :(
