February 3, 20178 yr Author This is still one of her best track for me, she has three pop masterpieces imo and this is one of them (along with Teenage Dream & E.T.), I was so pleased when it ended up being such a huge hit in the US and I think it is now of her defining hits which is great. The video is also amazing and showcases why she is so great, I hope we get more like this from KP4.
February 4, 20178 yr Absolutely loved this at the time, but it never really re-grew on me after its initial overplay! I would usually love a bright and colorful video but was hoping for something darker here, especially given the song title. I enjoyed seeing it lingering in the charts while 'Unconditionally' was being pushed instead, quite literally a smash waiting to happen
February 7, 20178 yr Adore Dark Horse. I just wish it had a video that suited the song. I looooved the Grammys performance of it, where it was all gothic and spooky.
February 26, 20178 yr Great song and considering how well it did before it even got released, there was no other choice than to release this as a single and gladly she did and became another memorable smash hit in her discography. This is a prime example of taking a huge risk and having it pay off immensely with it's trap beat and hip-hop sound, along with it's sleek production, this was a classic before it even got released as this was the definite huge standout on 'Prism' and yet another perfect example of moving forward in her career. Although I do have one slight criticism against it and that is the music video, which honestly I'm not keen on to this day, In my opinion it should have been more dark and gothic something that would be better suited for the song, not something bright and colourful and makes no sense. But other than that, it's still a fantastic song and still stands as one of her best and probably most interesting.
February 26, 20178 yr An abysmal song, easily her worst single. I really have no issue at all with Katy churning out basic pop bops and this, whilst different, commits the cardinal crime of a good pop song: it has no chorus. It has an alright bridge and then just drifts off into nothing. I hate trap as a genre though in general so it was never going to work for me.
February 26, 20178 yr Absolute tune. It's very competitive at the top of her singles but this is certainly one of her best. Trap wasn't overdone at this point so much as it is maybe now, so it feels fresh and for one of the pop girls to utilise it so well and craft a brilliant pop song with it felt so fresh <3
