Tears is a club banger once it gets going! Symphony too to an extent.

Rockabye is a pop song!

Starting to feel like 'Buzzjack'

Rockabye is certainly more pop than dance I would say.

Rockabye is 102BPM for a start, you can dance to it of course but that doesn't make it a dance record. Obviously it has dance influences but anything that downtempo is not predominantly a dance record.

Then why is it labelled as Dance?

Probably because Clean Bandit are labelled a dance act...

Well then is Slide by Calvin R&B rather than dance, certainly sounds like it?

TBH I'd say so

Would hardly call Mr Saxobeat by Alexandra Stan a jazz record just because it has a sax on it. So from the opposite angle works the same way.

Mr Saxobeat is electroswing, which is a type of dance.

I was saying it WAS dance there, lol

Tbh it's all subjective really when it comes to all these hybrids these days!!

I heard “Symphony” for the first time today (commercial radio on in office) and the opening sounds very much like “Got No Fans” by the Wealdstone Raider!
I know you're joking, but I really think it's possible that we have a top 40 singles chart filled almost entirely of Christmas songs this year, due to streaming. Barely any new songs will get a look in the charts during December because of this.

We could potentially be seeing songs like 'Feliz Navidad', 'Jingle Bell Rock' and 'Sleigh Ride' enter the top 40 for the first time ever

Christmas is on a Monday this year so the xmas chart will be on Friday 22nd - so it won't happen this year!

Well Christmas was a Sunday last year and we got a huge influx of tracks the week after thanks purely to streams on 23rd/24th/25th December, and we can add the 22nd next year so I think we'll see an even bigger impact in the final week of this year.

There'll be a lot but I can't see the whole top 40 being full of them until xmas has a full week build up - prob 10-14 out of the top 40 overall.

interesting moves today:

9 Slide

10 Stay

29 Zayn

32 Lorde

34 Derulo

41 Future

Slide - I'm not a huge fan of rap mid-sections, but the overall song is pretty good. I heard it for the first time on Kiss Fresh (yes, some of us oldies still listen to radio!) and thought "that song is cool!"

Slide is also really growing on me. I think the main issue was it's so far removed from previous Calvin tracks that it wasn't remotely what I was expecting, but it is a good track.
