So sad considering that Lorde could've been coming for a top 10 debut without the Ed crap.

Julia Michaels would've been entering too :(

A black day in the singles chart, the death kneel as this can happen. Fascinating yes but all of one bloody artist.
The same thing would've happened with Adele in 2015 if she'd have put her album on Spotify upon release

The days where the Top 5 wasn't static.

And you had at least 4 new entries in the Top10 enter. How I miss those days where you had about 8-9 entries in the Top40 pre-download era.

Given "Galway Girl" has made it to the top of Spotify should be ok for the number 2 spot overall this week?

I don't think the OCC will act unless it becomes a long-term thing.

People will grant him album release week grace but if Ed still has the majority of the top ten in a month's time then there will be huge pressure on the OCC from other record labels to change things.

This is a mess..When people used to count how many top 10 singles Madonna, Britney, Michael Jackson etc have, it kind of makes it pointless now

And anyone who says different is not true fan of the former British Singles Chart - whomever made this call at the OCC should be fired; they've failed to understand the ramifications of this. There has to have been a better route.

Lmao at everyone being so overdramatic about this

I didn't even notice that '+' was back in the top 5 as well! *.

And away from the Ed domination, chart king Daniel O'Donnell here to extend his consecutive years of chart albums record yet again  when's the next Joe Bonamassa album, hmm x

Great album sales for Ed!

Anyone tried to write/tweet the OCC?

I just emailed them, for what it's worth....

Daniel O'Donnell and Foster & Allen entering in the same week!

That also means two new entries this week including songs called 'Galway Girl'.

Drake's new album/"playlist" is gonna be released any day now....it's rumoured to have around 20 songs with much of the EP being recorded with British and European collaborators and the grime scene. He'll be dominating Apple Music and Ed will dominate Spotify. The UK top 40 will be interesting and over half could consist of Ed & Drake! I for one don't mind these "album takeovers" in the single chart.

Considering Drake can't even get all his singles in the Top 40, how much of a takeover is really likely?

Considering his lowest was 22 in yesterday update and all are still top 16 on Spotify unless he suddenly removes from Spotify and iTunes I'd say it's fairly certain they will all be top

sorry thought you were comparing ed to drake my bad

I wish they'd just make all the songs album only then these invasions wouldn't happen. might also help to sustain a duing albums market

That wouldn't stop the invasion as most of the sales are coming from streaming rather than iTunes.

Drake won't have an effect similar to Ed. Especially if it's an Apple Music exclusive.

His last album was and none of the album tracks made the top 40, Too Good and Controlla both entered top 50.

True but would lessen some of the impact

Alternatively just get rid of streaming then 😄
