May 6, 20178 yr Bloody Tories won in the West Midlands :puke2: I would've been with you on this but Andy Street is a great choice, even with his Tory alliances. I think he's the right person to accelerate the current Birmingham economic renaissance and keep the Midlands with a high profile nationally. And also our main competitor (Manchester) has gone Labour which is bound to work in our favour with Theresa, who already showing less interest with the Northern Powerhouse and more with the Midlands. And if he turns out to be a disaster it's only three years to the next election :D
May 6, 20178 yr We got Tories in our Mayoral election too, tbf all of the candidates mostly seemed to want to get transport in gear which I am fully behind whoever does it, Bristol is awful for it and it seems like the rest of the metro area Tim Bowles will cover is too. Hopefully we see some improvement....

And if he turns out to be a disaster it's only three years to the next election :D You already had a head start with the Northern Powerhouse being an Osbourne invention!! There seems to be enough determination across Liverpool, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle and Tyneside to hold the government to the promises they've made the north - especially with May wanting to capitalise on their Leave voters - for us to get at least HS3 and the transport improvement that is required on cross pennine routes. Future promises of support are defo coming to the Midlands Engine
May 6, 20178 yr Just in case what, David Davis and Liam Fox have a change of heart? Well, I was thinking more in terms of them making so many concessions to the EU in the 'divorce' settlement, that most of the issues that caused people to vote Leave will still remain in place.
May 7, 20178 yr That's what Altrincham, Cheadle Hulme, just to the West of Bolton and Prestwich that the Tories won? (trying to roughly line that map up with the actual map of GM. I did think it would be a closer fight and tbh was expecting a run off. The shock for me was the thrashing Burnham gave the Trafford Council leader in Trafford. Bowdon and Hale Barns on the edges of Altrincham (he won Altrincham itself and Hale, which is remarkable enough) along with two Bramhall wards in Stockport, part of Prestwich and a posh bit of Bolton. Well, I was thinking more in terms of them making so many concessions to the EU in the 'divorce' settlement, that most of the issues that caused people to vote Leave will still remain in place. I'll believe it when I see it. The fact that we're having an election at all surely suggests that May and her ministers don't think we'll be able to cut a deal before we leave at all.
May 7, 20178 yr Wait when were these elections? I didn't vote lmaooo We are always Labour anyway I wouldn't read too much into them. Only the grey vote is active in these ones. The GE will be a shock for the Tories.
May 7, 20178 yr I suppose campaigning doesn't matter too much if you're not actually aware there's any elections going on.
May 7, 20178 yr We are countering the mainstream media by uae of social media. Corbyn needs to plan huge Bernie-style rallies If he did thar, wit our grass roots rebellion against he media elite, he would stand a real chance.
May 17, 20178 yr Labour councillors in Aberdeen entered into a coalition with the Tories. They've now all been suspended from Scottish Labour

Of what - keeping the Tory majority to less than 100? Edited May 18, 20178 yr by vidcapper
