There should be a new rule where no artist is allowed more than 3 songs per chart week... or they should decrease the streaming rate to 1:500 instead of 1:150. The chart looks so ridiculous nowadays and pointless...

Why have the Scottish charts not included streaming yet? Why does Scotland have their own chart? Is this included in the Official UK Chart?
Galway Girl is 94k streams ahead today and 27% ahead on the iTunes chart!

'Shape of You' actually has 801k daily Spotify streams when you combine all three versions in the top 200

Only? Was actually expecting more ;)

Both Scotland and Wales have their own charts (as does, or at least used to have, Northern Ireland). All sales in those charts are included in the overall Official UK Chart. I'm guessing streams aren't included due to difficulties in tracking streaming information to specific geographical locations given how much streaming data there is to process. In theory it should be possible to include streams but it's probably not very practical. Indeed, for many years after downloads were included in the overall UK charts the regional charts were still based purely on physical sales.

As for why each nation (except England) has its own chart, I guess those charts are compiled because the information is (streams aside) available to compile those charts and at one time those charts were broadcast on BBC radio in each country. I imagine that record labels still find value in the information, to see how acts / albums are performing in each country. England doesn't have its own chart but at one time (and most likely it still is the situation) sales information was available for all English regions based on the coverage area of the local independent TV station. Again this allowed record labels to see how acts / albums were performing, especially in relation to regional advertising campaigns.

I guess there's not much sense in England having its own chart because it wouldn't be that different to the overall chart due to England making up the vast majority of it.

As for streaming, I would have thought it would be impossible to track streaming to specific geographical locations. For example I live in England but if I stream while I'm visiting Scotland, would that count towards English or Scottish streams?! I guess in theory they could figure out where my phone is registered, or where I'm located based on the IP address of my computer but I doubt it's worth it.

I would have thought it would be linked back to the registered address of the account holder of the streaming service rather than where the location of the IP address is. I wonder how it is done for download sales? By registered address for the e.g. iTunes account or by IP location? Possibly that is why it took so long for download sales to be included in the charts of each country. It's certainly a lot easier to work out when it's a physical sale...

Next week I'd expect both ZAYN and Kurupt FM to debut top 10, but I'm not sure how much of a threat either of them will be. ZAYN could go top 5 I suppose.

I can't see Zayn debuting that high, not unless it's an exceptionally good song.

NO OTHER SALES INFO

Looks like Passionfruit will be top 10 for definite then, good to see two more new entries in the top 10 - becoming a regular event now which is great to see! My predictions for this week are scarily accurate right now :o

EDIT - looks like Galway Girl could push Shape Of You right to the end, fingers crossed it gets a boost from somewhere and scrapes the top spot, can't call it right now.

As Passionfruit will be going top 10, is Anne-Marie 100% safe still?

We don't have any other sales info but I would say so, yes!

Also: Galway Girl won't be making #1, the gap's been increasing throughout the week hasn't it?

Monday to Tuesday it increased but Wednesday its closed the gap a little but I don't think it will be enough

but DM really only sold 800 copies yesterday? sounds very low

Rag Man did like 4 times more :/

I hope both Bibia Be Ye Ye (#37) and Hearts Don't Break Around Here (#39) are not top 40 on Friday. -_-

Fingers crossed some of the Drake tracks push them out, the latter especially as it's totally bland and non-descript.
